Chapter 3 - The Wrong You

Earth 38 - Catco Tower

Kara having left her belongings at CatCo, meant Barry and Kara had to make a quick stop at her desk before they could enjoy a meal together of 20,000 calories, only 10,000 calories each of course.

"Just one more thing I've got to get and then we can" Kara remembered as they approached the elevator.

Barry and Kara swept into the empty elevator, Kara made a quick move to tap the button which would lead them to her desk. After a brief moment the elevators doors slid open, as Kara stepped out leaving Barry who was looking around the office, Kara very eager to just leave with her belongings so she could grab lunch with Barry.

Quickly yet quietly she rushed to her desk to grab her belongings, hoping to go unnoticed by Miss Grant, belongings in check, now only a trip to the elevator, Kara turned on the spot ready to leave.

"Ker-rah, you're alive" Kara face scrunched up peeping to a shrugging Barry, her plans with Barry in the midst of being teared up. Turning around as she pooled her head into Ms Grants office.

"Ms. Grant... don't worry I was rescued, but I'm kinda busy now" Kara just wanted to be out as soon as possible

"Stop stating the obvious. You're in the middle of breaking news and I want you to act like it." Ms Grant's eyes gleaming with the news on the new supposed hero. "And yes, yes, another one of my ex-employees went all revengey. But There's a new superhero in National City. This is huge. Direct competition for Supergirl."

Ms Grant spun her laptop, an image taking up the whole frame of the screen just as Barry entered the office, standing beside Kara as they both gazed at the image of The Flash holding Supergirl in his arms as he bolted North up the Catco buildings. Kara blushing slightly, not enough for anyone to notice.

"He doesn't have to be competition." Kara pointed out

"Would you prefer a sidekick?" Ms Grant suggested. just as Winn wanders in with James far behind.

"No, not a sidekick. More like an equal. Or an ally. Even a partner, maybe. Speaking was the wrong choice. I see that now." Before Kara could suggest partners, Barry interrupted, now wishing he hadn't.

"All four of you standing there doing nothing, you look like the attractive, yet non threating, racially diverse cast of a CW show."

"Who are you?" She asked, her eyes narrowing down at Barry.

"He's my cousin..." said Winn,

"He's Kara's friend" James added,

Kara stood there, not sure what to say, was he just a friend,

"Hey, I'm Barry Allen, I'm not anyone's cousin. We know each very well from high school" Barry pointed between himself and Kara, as she turned to look at him smiling, he thought of something that made sense.

"Ermm... yeah.. We know each from high school, we're so close... l-like... family" Kara sighed within, she regretted the part about 'family'.

"Well I need a clear picture of this speedster, James that's on you." Barry and Kara flooded with embarrassment and cheeks turning scarlet red. As the talk went from personal to strictly business.

"And Kerrah, there are lots of people who want to know what happened, speak to no-one your mind, I will let you know, when you should reveal this exclusive information"

"Now I have to name this new hero -- i was thinking -- maybe the whoosh or the red streak." As Barry silently disagreed

"Or the blur"

"How about The Flash -- I'm just saying I think it sounds like a cool superhero name"

"The Flash? Sounds like someone who's only superhero power is to jump out in a alley way in a trench coat -- No" Barry listened his lips sealed just as Kara's as James let out a bit of laughter.

"I want mystery -- i want intrigue -- I want the blur. Now I want the boys gone and Girls stay"

As the boys left to work as Barry stood near Kara's desk, as he waited for Kara.

Kara walked up the Cat Grant's desk, straightening her glasses in the process. "It's very clear that James is -- is not happy seeing you with another man, also I am sure I did not tell you to make him jealous by getting with another -- man -- your boyfriend?"

"No No! He ain't my boyfriend, we're just -- really -- close."

"Well whatever -- make your mind up, its either James or what's his name again? Harry was it?

"It's Barry, Miss Grant."

Now Kara was free from the clutches of Cat Grant, she used it make a quick escape with Barry, as she grabbed his hand and led him to the elevator after her short conversation with Miss Grant which felt like forever of the heated topic about Barry and James. As the elevator touched ground, they raced to Noonans.

Earth 38 - Noonans

Only seconds later, after racing each other to Noonans of course. Kara led the way, Barry following suit. Once they were in, Barry & Kara took their seats opposite each other, among the little booth with red vintage looking seats and the metal table hammered into the ground.

"So Barry... I was wondering we could stop here grab something to drink before we get doughnuts, what do you say?" Asked Kara with a smile.

"Yeah, Sure I've got all the time" Barry grinned, Kara rolled her eyes.

"So what shall I get you, Barry?"

"A hot chocolate would do, please."

"Okay so that's two hot chocolates" Kara muttered to herself before turning back to Barry, "I'll be right back"

Kara left Barry to get their beverages, then unexpectedly, someone enters Noonans, Barry couldn't believe it, he thought everyone close to him wouldn't be here, but how wrong he was. There she was. Iris. He'd forgotten to search for her, just like he was forgetting his crush on her.

Earth 2 Iris looking his way, Barry stood up, Barry failed to utter a word, feeling paralysed from waist below as he turned and watched Iris joyfully sprint past him, his all-time crush, and then jump into someone else's arms, not a even half a second later for the fastest man alive to reconcile what happened as Iris separates herself from the unknown man revealing his face.
