It wasn't long after Barry reached the D.E.O. with an unconscious Kara in his arms did he start feeling weak and drained. Never before had Barry pulled so much from his reserves, and also having to heal himself whilst taking pain during the fall of Kara was hard within itself especially since it was the first time he'd done anything of such.

The D.E.O. agents had hurriedly reached the duo as Barry dropped to his knees alongside Kara in his arms, Thankfully Barry's plead for help had alerted nearby agents who were unaware of the current condition of the heroes. Together they were rushed to the med-bay and immediately checked upon.

Kara had taken substantial amount of pain for once, the sign of blood had made her feel weak. She wasn't human yet she showed weaknesses related to them. Now she just lay on a bed in the med-bay, resting and recovering. Lucy Lane alongside Winn and James had immediately been at her bedside the moment she entered the D.E.O. along with Barry who not once had left her side even after being told several times he too needed to rest, though he'd never go away and when he did he'd return like he did now.

It was midnight now, a few days since that day. The only signs of life from Kara were the slow rise and fall of her chest, she was breathing and alive, though it didn't look it. Barry was awake, he had recovered quickly, thanks to his ability to heal quicker then the normal human, he was back on two feet but not that it meant it'll exclude him from feeling slightly drained. He still felt a bit low, though thankfully he hadn't blown out completely which would've meant the end of The Flash.

Just like the past nights he'd been sitting at her bedside, her limp hand entwined with his, just waiting and waiting for her to return. Throughout the day, he'd taken to caring for Kara, whether it be having to lift her up to allow for a change of clothes or to brushing away her golden strands which looked as though it had lost its shine. No matter what, he'd stay, full of hope at her side. The others had left him to it, since it was visible she was in good hands though not everyone agreed.

James thought he should be the one at her side, but he fought the urge to say so. Not that Winn and Lucy hadn't noticed, Winn fought his temptations, to make a remark at James, but his temptations to mock James faded whenever he saw the Kara looking limp on the hospital bed, James visits to see Kara gradually came to an end too.

A sudden outcry startled Barry, machines letting are cascade of beep sounds. Barry terrifyingly watched at Kara. She had awoken from a deep and long road of recovery. Yet the sight of her was startling. Tubes placed into her nostrils, now dangled from her afraid face. Unknowingly she tightly clutched Barry's hand, who was doing his best endure the pain whilst he called for help without leaving her side.

Immediately the room was swarmed by officials, Barry tried to step back, but her hold on him kept tightened, he looked up to see blue eyes, full of fear, gazing back at him. She wordlessly asked him to stay, and he did so. Kara felt herself relex and succumb to oblivion. Letting sleep take over, the last thing she remembered was the fading beeping from the monitors, and the light feather kiss pressed to top of her hair. She knew it was him, the profound smell she would never grow tired off.

Hours later, Kara felt like she'd slept long enough, hoping she hadn't missed work. But the feel on the comfort of cotton bed sheets made her want to forget work. Then she thought to herself, when did I get such comfortable bed sheets, then everything from the past few days came crashing down on her. The light from her face drained, rushing to get back outside, she attempted to get fresh air when she felt weight on her legs and hand entwined with another.
