My name is Tori Huff and I am prideful
Ever since I was a little girl I was always entered in beauty pageants. I always won. This Monday there's a big pageant. All the contestants are from the state. I wanted to go shopping for the perfect dress. My phone rang. It was my sister. "Hey." I answered. "Are you busy?" She asked. "No not currently but I wanted to go to the mall for a dress." I replied. "Great. I'll be by to pick you up in 10." She responded. I agreed and hung up. I scrolled through Pinterest looking at makeup looks. I finally picked one out and left it on my screen. I heard a car horn.
I rushed outside. We went to the mall. We didn't find anything until we were about to leave. I saw a baby pink high low dress with crystals placed around the waist. "That one!" I exclaimed. My sister paid for it. "When I win, I have to give a speech so help me think of one." I explained. "You don't have to always win everything. What if you don't win. Everything in life isn't handed to you, Tori." She snapped. Geez I was just wanted encouragement. The car ride home was silent. When I got in my room I looked at all the medals and pictures of my winnings. Not winning a pageant? That's funny. I put my dress in my closet and went to sleep.
Monday arrived and I was so excited. My mom woke me up and we went to the spa. After that, we went home so we could get ready. I put on my makeup and my mom did my hair. I carried my dress to the car. Since the dress is so extravagant I will get dressed last minute to reduce the risk of damaging it. I walked in. So many girls were everywhere. Nail polish, hairspray, and dresses scattered the room. I went into the dressing area and put on my dress. When I walked out everyone's head's turned. I was stunning. My mom took many pictures.
It was time for judging. I was in the finale. "The winner is...." Everyone was tense, waiting to hear the winner. I was tense. Even though I was sure of my victory I was still tense. "Tori Huff!" The man announced. I was smiling. Smile and wave. I walked to the podium. "Miss Huff please give us your victory speech." One of the judges pleaded. I nodded. I gave my speech and smiled. They crowned me and gave me flowers. I stood at the platform and held the microphone. I gave my speech and smiled. The crowd loved it. I started to walked off the platform but my dress got caught under my shoes. I tripped. The crown fell off my head. A crown falling off a winner's head is bad luck. I was in so much pain. My head felt wet. I think my head is bleeding. I blacked out.
I opened my eyes. I was standing on the platform. People were watching. "Miss Huff" the judge announced. "Yes. Yes." I confirmed. I gave my speech. I smiled and walked off. When I put my foot down, I fell once again. My crown fell off. My head hurt once more. My head was bleeding again. How could this happen twice? What happened the first time? I blacked out. I opened my eyes to see I was once more standing on the platform. I smiled and gave my speech. Third times the charm. I stepped off and tripped yet again. My crown fell. I had that headache. I blacked out again. When I opened my eyes there were bright lights. I squinted until my eyes focused. I was on the platform again. Oh no. I was stuck in a loop.
