Mikasa
I was tired out of my wits. I barely had any sleep these past few days because of the titans constantly breaching the walls but if that meant protecting Eren, then there's no doubt in my mind I would even bother to complain or make a fuss over it.
"Mikasa! We need to leave! The troops are starting to head out!" Armin explained. My eyes widened and I followed after him.------
"Everyone! Don't forget the formation! Give your heart and soul into this mission! Open the gates!" The commander wasn't at all that bad of a person. My eyes narrowed at Eren, who was way far ahead of me in the center of the line. This mission is about him. We have to protect him. We have to save him. No. I will save him.
"Let's GO!!!" The horses neighed loudly and charged forward. All I could think about was Eren. What if the mission fails? What if I fail to rescue Eren? What if...
"Mikasa!" What if he dies? What if...
"MIKASA DAMN IT!" I snapped out of it and looked behind me.
"H-hai, Ma'am!" I was far ahead of the sqaud leader of the group who was Hange Zoe.
"Look ahead of you!" I looked forward and right in front of me was an abnormal. It felt as if I was in slow motion. I couldn't move. Why?
I thought about the reason I was here. To protect Eren!
"I must fight!" I stood up and jumped off my horse. 'I must keep living! I have to keep fighting for Erens sake!'
"Mikasa, Motaeeee!!!!!!" I couldn't fail now. Right above me was a black flare indicating, in our position, that there's an abnormal.
"AHHHHHH!" I grunted as I came down and sliced my two swords into the nape of its neck.
I landed with my head down and my bangs covering my eyes. I didn't feel fear nor did I feel excited about being here. If anything, I should feel pissed that I have to risk my life because of these man-eating monsters.
"Mikasa! Are you okay?!" I looked up and saw Sasha. She jumped off of her horse and sprinted to my to side.
"Hai..." I said dully.
"We need to keep moving! Good kill Ackerman." Zoe shot a green flare in the air to signal everyone that it was safe in the left wing of the formation. I whistled for my horse and it came trotting towards me in the matter of seconds. I pat its head and called him good boy.
"Arigatōgozaimashita." (Thank you) This was a tough mission. Our biggest disadvantage here is the fact that there was no trees or buildings to use our gear on. We are absolutely powerless against the titans. I didn't question about our mission today. So technically, I have no idea what it is we're doing or what we are after. I hopped on my horse and raced ahead of my group again. I was far behind Eren at this point. If he were to get into trouble I wouldn't be there. I wouldn't be able to assist. But team Levi is one of the best out there. Except, I hated that short clean freak. He hurt Eren in the Court that day. He will pay. Next time I get him alone, he'll be sorry he ever layed a clean finger on him.
Suddenly four red flares shot into the sky in the right side of the formation. My heart thudded. Four red flares at once? That's certainly not good. No not at all. I stared at the right for a long period of time until an abnormal came running from behind a clutter of trees. I clenched my jaw. 'These damn things just won't give us a break!' I ran toward the titan but halted after a group of them were walking just behind it. I probably wouldn't survive if I were attack them alone. The thoughts of me failing Eren only angered me.
"Tsk!" 'The hell with it!' I charged my horse to the titans without second thought.
"Misaka!!! Get back here! It's an order! You're going to die!" I ignored the remarks and continued my way to the those ugly bastards. I was getting close. I stood on top of my horse and got my gear ready. I took out my two swords and shot the only abnormal in the bunch with my wire and came down and carved the flesh out in its neck and caused it tumble below me. The rest stared at me and ran my way, trying to catch me with there sticky fingers. I wasn't scared. I was determined to kill every titan that stood in my path. I jumped from one titan to the next, slicing a chunk of meat from the nape of each neck I encountered. I fell and paused to take a short breath. Only one left. I turned both of my swords to the side and charged to the only one left standing. I had many things I wanted to live for. And giving up now wasn't even an option, especially if I only had one target left. I was just about to wire it until someone did it before me and instantly sliced its neck; blood splattered out. The person stood on top of the titan's nape and looked down at me in a shadow. He jumped down from the beast and walked my way. 'Who is it?' The person was just a mere 5 feet away from me. Jean.
"You need to listen when the squad leader tells you to fall back! You could have been killed. Did you even see that one?" He pointed in the direction on my right. I followed his finger and widened my eyes. It must've been an abnormal. Its mouth was wide open and laying on its stomach steaming. It's teeth were about 50 feet away from my legs.
"Whats gotten into you Mikasa?" I looked away in embarrassment.
"Well lets go. We're falling behind."
"H-hai!" I called my horse once more.
"Arigato, Jean." He looked away and blushed.
"Yeah, yeah. Next time, you won't be so lucky. I might not be able to save you like that again. I want you to stay alive Mikasa. You're kinda important to me okay? So be careful." I looked down and tugged at my scarf. 'I guess he's right. But I'm important to him? How?'
"Go..Gomen...Jean." I said softly.
"Why is Erwin taking us into the forest? Something has to be wrong." Captain Zoe said randomly.
Out of Nowhere, up ahead, a huge female looking titan ran into the forest in front of us. My eyes bugged. It looked very similar to the colossal titan we encountered five years ago.
"No way." Jean said in shock.
"Everyone! Follow me and my orders!" Captain Zoe shouted. I watched her closely as she got her gear readied.
"Follow me!" She jumped off her horse and wired one of the trees at the edge of the forest. I did the same and landed on a branch, far off of the ground.
"What-"
"No questions. I can't answer them right now. You all just have to trust our judgement on this one. Stay put and keep the titans out of the forest. I need to go take my position. I don't have time to explain everything. Be safe everyone."
"Wai-" Before I could even get the chance to react she was gone in a flash. 'What's going on?'
"Mikasa!" Someone yelled on right side of me. It was Armin.
"Armin!" He made his way over to me with smile.
"Do you know what's going on?"
"No idea." I sighed.
"Lets just hope there plan doesn't get screwed up." Was all I managed to say. I turned my head to look into the forest and just before trees covered them, I got a glimpse at Eren. He was safe and sound. Thank goodness. I felt the weight on my shoulders pick up; I suddenly felt lighter. My eyes scanned the rest of group and that's when it happened. That's when I saw it. No. Him. Levi. He was looking back at...me...? Maybe my eyes were just seeing things. I continued to stare. He...smiled...? That confirmed it. He was definitely looking at me. 'Why did he just smile at me?' I despise him for hurting Eren. Why did I smile back?
