"Grandma! Grandma! Look what I got!" Said my golden haired granddaughter as she sped through the large courtyard.
"What is it, beautiful?" I bent down to her height and watched as she stretched out her hand to reveal a dandelion.
"It's a dandelion!" She exclaimed as a wide smile appeared on her porcelain face.
"Wow! Did you know that if you make a wish and blow all of the petals away, your wish will come true?"
"Really?" She stared at the flower in wonder before gazing back at me.
"Yep, go ahead, close your eyes and make a wish." I urged her with a smile.
"Make one with me!"
I agreed and made my wish along with her. I watched as she closed her eyes tight and pausing before taking in a big gulp of air. She opened her eyes to watch the small white petals of the dandelion floating away in the wind.
She let out a squeal as she was picked up from behind and spun around. "Daddy!"
"What'd you wish for, sweetheart?" Cole asked as he set his daughter down in the grass.
"I can't tell you!" She replied. "It won't come true."
I smiled and watched as my son attempted to bargain with his beautiful daughter. She grew slower than he did, but still so very fast. He has more time with her than we did with him and his sister.
"What'd you wish for, love?" I felt Alec's arms wrap around my waist from behind and I leaned into him.
"If I told you, it wouldn't come true." I smirked as my gaze met his.
"Well aren't you a little tease." He leaned down and placed a small kiss on my lips before pulling back. His skin was sparkling in the spring sunlight and this moment couldn't be anymore perfect for all of us.
My son and his soon to be wife were playing with they're daughter with pure joy on all of their faces. I had to admit Cole had always been a little flirt, thanks to Demetri, but once he met her, it was like the switch that Demetri had turned on, was turned off. He only had eyes for her and I couldn't be any happier for him. Not to mention that my future daughter in law is sweet as can be and great to have around.
Violet on the other hand, didn't want to fall in love. She wanted to explore and see the world. We let her do that, of course, but with someone always there to make sure she was okay. She picked Jane to take with her when she traveled. The Volturi was hesitant at first, being as Jane was one of their most powerful weapons, but Violet has had them all wrapped around her finger since the day she was born, so they said yes. I can't even tell you how many places she's been in her short life, but I can tell you how happy it made her. Like I said, she didn't want love, she wanted adventure, but lo and behold she got both. Violet met a guy in London while out on her own for the day and she turned him head over heels. It was only a matter of time before he did the same to her. Now, nothing is official but I know that they'll soon be on their way to marriage. Alec wasn't too happy when he heard that his little girl had found herself a boyfriend, but he's slowly letting him in...very slowly.
"Mom! Daddy!" My daughters sweet voice broke me out of my thoughts as I saw her run up and hug both of us.
"Sweetheart! I thought you weren't coming back for another week." I said as she pulled away, teaching her hand out to her human boyfriend to hold.
"I decided to come back early and surprise you." She said as she smiled wide, "I also wanted to come and see my favorite niece."
"Auntie Vi, you're home!" The small child ran up to Violet who easily picked her up.
"You look so beautiful! How have you been? Has daddy been mean? Do I need to beat him up?" Violet asked as the child bounced in her arms, shaking her head no. "Awe darn, I was really looking forward to beating him again."
"That was one time!" Cole argued as he came up to us.
"More like twenty!" Vi retorted with a smirk.
"Oh shut up." He said as he ruffled his sister's hair.
"Alright, come on you two, who's hungry?" I asked, getting their attention.
"Starving!" Violet exaggerated before leading the way to the kitchen.
I watched as they all went inside, laughing and joking around. My entire family was happy. "What are you thinking of?" Alec asked.
I sighed, a small smile spreading across my face, "They're happy. We're happy." I stayed simply.
"Of course they are, you gave them everything a child could hope for."
"I think you mean we gave them everything. I couldn't have done it by myself. Lord knows what I'd do if I was alone during their teen years." We both let out a small laugh, knowing that their teen years were as complicated as a human's. "What would've happened if I still hated you?"
"You would still be up in that room of yours brooding, that's what." Alec joked. "And I would be angry, for loving someone who would never love me back." He placed a kiss on my cheek before walking ahead of me. "Come, they're probably wondering where we are." I laced my fingers with his as we began walking inside.
"They're probably making jokes about us being old and horny."
"Well...they're not wrong." Alec picked me up and spun me around as I let out a squeal. I wrapped my legs around his waist and leaned down to kiss him, my hands cupping his cheeks.
"Definitely not wrong."
End.
