Only You - Artem Markelov

Prologue

I've published this before, about a year ago. But I got a new idea and it turned out it fitted really well with what I had already written! So, I've changed some small things in the prologue and the first chapter. Hope you enjoy!

"Are you sure you have to go?" Noah asks as he helps Artem load his car with all his belongings.

"Yeah, I need this man."

"You can just race from here you know?"

"I know but it's not about racing," Artem says as he looks past Noah to the next door house, where a young girl is standing in the door opening. Noah follows his gaze and sighs, knowing exactly what he means.

"I understand. But are you sure this is the right thing?"

"For me it is. I need to get away."

"And there's no other option than moving to Germany? It seems a bit extreme."

"Says the guy who moved to Russia," Artem chuckles, making Noah chuckle as well.

"That wasn't my idea though."

"Fair enough."

"I just hate to see you go."

"Don't worry, we'll keep in touch," Artem says as he shuts the back of his car.

"I know that, but still. It won't be the same."

"You should totally come visit."

"I will, you're not getting rid of me that easily," Noah says, making Artem chuckle.

"I was counting on it."

"I'll see you later man," Noah says before giving Artem a man-hug.

"See you later," Artem replies before getting into his car. Noah walks back to the front door where the young girl is still standing, watching the two boys. The two boys who have been a part of her life for as long as she can remember. Every memory she has, they are a part of it.

"Are you okay?" the girl asks as Noah wraps an arm around her.

"I guess, are you?"

"Are you really asking me that?"

"I know he hasn't always made your life the easiest, but he was still your only connection to Layla"

"I know that. But having him close won't make me feel any closer to her."

"I get that," Noah says as he hugs Amaya.

"Will you go see him?"

"Probably, yeah. I'm guessing you won't be coming along."

"Not if I can help it."
