The next day Amaya arrived onto the paddock with a weird feeling in her stomach and not just because she now knows she's pregnant. She knows she will have to tell Artem sooner or later and she's not really looking forward to it. He has a race at 11 am she definitely doesn't want to tell him beforehand. He needs to focus on the race and not be distracted by the fact he's becoming a dad.
Amaya makes her way to her office, where Rose is already waiting for her.
"Good morning," she greets Amaya as she walks in.
"Morning," Amaya replies as she sits down at her laptop.
"How are you feeling?"
"Okay, I think. Nervous about telling Artem."
"When are you gonna tell him?"
"After the race, maybe tonight. I don't know yet."
"You need to do it before you leave here. By the time Barcelona rolls around, you might already be showing at that's not the way to tell him," Rose says, making Amaya chuckle slightly.
"You're right. I'll go to see him tonight."
With heavy shoes, Amaya makes her way to Artem's room. The second race had gone horrible, just like the first one and she was almost certain he would be in a bad mood. And her news wouldn't make it any better.
When Amaya reaches his room, she takes a deep breath before knocking on his door. It doesn't take too long before the door opens. Once Artem sees Amaya, a smile appears on his face.
"Hey! What's up?" he asks, not expecting to see Amaya tonight, but very happy with the surprise visit.
"Do you have some time? I need to tell you something."
"Yeah sure, come on in," Artem says, opening the door wider. Amaya walks in and sits down on the bed. Artem sits down next to her, slightly worried by the serious look on her face.
"I'm sorry about the race," Amaya says as she looks at Artem, putting her hand on his leg.
"That's okay, just wasn't our weekend," Artem says, putting his hand on top of Amaya's as he looks back at her. For a moment, neither of them says or does anything. Slowly, Artem moves closer to Amaya, putting his other hand on her cheek. When Amaya doesn't stop him, he softly connects their lips. Their conversation from the day before is still fresh in his mind and he doesn't want Amaya to think he's just in it for the physical part.
"Artem," Amaya says, pulling back.
"I'm sorry. Go ahead," Artem says, feeling bad for interrupting her.
"Don't be, I enjoyed it. But I feel like I need to say this first, otherwise, it's not fair to you."
"You don't have a boyfriend right?"
"What? No!" Amaya says, making Artem sigh in relief, causing her to chuckle.
"Good, that would've been bad."
"I don't know if this is much better."
"What's wrong?" Artem asks, worried again.
"So, ehm, remember Bahrain?"
"Yeah, of course! It was one of the best nights of my life. Why?"
"It was great indeed. But, we did forget something, apparently."
"What's that?" Artem asks confused.
"Protection."
"What?"
