Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! Writing has been a serious struggle for me lately, which is why it took so long for me to write this chapter. But it's finally here, hopefully, you'll enjoy it!
Amaya sighs as she watches smoke come out of the back of Artem's car. Engine issue, quite clearly. She frowns, knowing he'll be very disappointed as he was on the road to some good points. But after the smoke curtain he just put down, it's obvious that he won't make it to the finish line.
Luckily there are only a few more laps before the race is over, which means Amaya is able to get to Artem before he has talked to the media. She smiles slightly once he notices her as he's talking to his engineer outside the garage. He smiles back and walks over to her after finishes the chat.
"Hey," Artem says once he reaches her.
"Hey, I'm sorry about the race."
"Nothing anyone could have done, just bad luck."
"Let's hope for better luck tomorrow then!"
"Definitely! How are you feeling by the way?" Artem asks, referring to the night before.
"Feeling a lot better, thank you," Amaya replies, smiling at him.
"I'm glad to hear," Artem says. Just then, Amaya's phone starts ringing.
"Sorry, just a sec," Amaya says when she sees it's Rose calling. She quickly picks up, walking a few steps away from Artem.
"Hey, so I'm at the store and there are a few options, which one do you want?" Rose asks immediately.
"How am I supposed to know, I don't know anything about that kind of stuff," Amaya whispers.
"Why are you whispering?"
"Artem is right here."
"Ah, right. So, should I just ask here?"
"No, just get one, whichever one you think is best."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I just need to know," Amaya sighs. There more she thinks about the possibility, the more scared she gets it might actually be that. Especially since her period seems to be late.
"Alright, I'll get it and then we can do it tonight, okay?"
"Sounds good."
"Alright, will see you later! Have fun with Artem!"
"Thanks," Amaya says before hanging up and walking back to Artem.
"Everything okay?" he asks.
"Yeah, no worries. It was just Rose," Amaya lies as everything could be far from okay. But she doesn't want to worry him without any reason.
"Ahh okay, that's good. Hey, I was wondering, do you maybe want to do something tonight? Doesn't have to be anything crazy, maybe just hanging out in your room. Or mine, doesn't matter," Artem asks and instantly, Amaya feels bad. No matter how much she wants to, even just to see where they stand, she has more important things to do tonight.
"Are you sure that's a good idea with the race tomorrow?"
"We won't make it too late, just having a bite to eat and chatting a bit," Artem says and Amaya can see how much he wants her to say yes. And she really wants to as well.
Rose could come a bit later, right?
"Alright, but not too late."
"I promise," Artem chuckles as Amaya smiles.
"Great, just come to my room whenever you're ready!"
"Will do, see you later," Artem says before leaning forward and giving Amaya a kiss on the cheek, causing her to blush slightly. Artem walks off with a smile on his face, excited about the time he'll get to spend with Amaya later.
Just as Amaya is starting to get hungry, there's a knock on her door. She smiles when she sees Artem with a pizza box in his hands.
"You shouldn't be eating that you know," she says as she lets Artem in.
"I know, that's why I have something healthy for me," Artem says as he pulls out another box, filled with all kinds of healthy food.
"You brought me pizza?"
"Of course, I figured you'd be hungry after such a long day."
"You guessed correct," Amaya says as she takes the pizza from Artem. They sit down together on the bed and both start eating.
"So...," Artem starts, making Amaya chuckle.
"Yes?"
"I don't know, this is weird."
"Why?"
"Because it feels like I know you, from when we were younger. But at the same time, it feels like I don't know you at all."
"Yeah, I know how you feel," Amaya says, making Artem smile slightly.
"Well, let's change that! Let's get to know each other again!"
"Alright, let's do it. You start. Tell me the thing you love most next to racing," Amaya says, just as there's a knock on her door. Amaya frowns slightly, confused on who it could be. She had texted Rose earlier to come over later and she had said she would. Amaya gets up and opens the door to find Noah standing in front of her.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" she asks confused.
"I just wanted to check on you after yesterday, see how you were feeling," Noah says as he walks inside. It doesn't take longer than a second for him to find Artem sitting on the bed, causing the look on his face to change from worry to confusion to anger in a matter of seconds.
Sorry it's a bit short! Hopefully you enjoyed it nonetheless and are ready for what's coming next! I'll try to update a bit more often, but with school atm, it's hard. Just a few more weeks until my exams are over for this block tho :D
