Emma woke up a massive headache, she didn't remember much last night. Peering over to the alarm clock Emma's eyes nearly fell out of her head it was almost noon and there was no sound of Abel coming from the baby monitor. Bolting out of bed and down the hall Emma saw Jax sitting on the couch burping a now sleeping Abel on his shoulder
"What are you doing here?" Emma asked
"Taking care of my son" Jax said looking up at Emma, she looked rough
"I could have" Emma said
"No you couldn't have Emma. You couldn't even stand up what make me think you would wake up to Abel just a few hours later?" Jax said
"I was supposed to have company over but you showed up" Emma snapped as she watched Jax put Abel in his swing
"Who? The guy that was texting you? Here this whole time I am trying to get you back but you are fooling around acting like I don't matter" Jax said as they walked to the kitchen
"Like I said I was having fun" Emma said as she grabbed a cup from the cabinet
"Emma do you want to be married anymore?" Jax asked bluntly he had thought about this all night, weighing out if their marriage was ever going to work again. Yes Jax had betrayed Emma but he was working to make it better while she was clearly not wanting to make this marriage work
"I don't know what I want anymore Jax" Emma said as she looked blankly at Jax
"Maybe it's better if we separate legally, and go from there" Jax said as he turned around
"Jax" Emma said as her heart broke slightly
"I'll be by tomorrow to get Abel for a few days" Jax said as he stopped not turning around "Im sorry that I hurt you so much"
As Emma watched Jax leave her heart felt like it was breaking into a million pieces, she didn't think that Jax would ever throw that curve ball at her and it hurt her a lot that he was done trying
One year later
"Jax I really need you to take Abel this weekend" Emma said as she adjusted her sunglasses getting annoyed with Jax, she needed him to take Abel this weekend because she was swamped with things to do
"Emma, Its not my weekend and I am going to have Abel for the next two weeks for your honeymoon. I need a few days to get shit in order" Jax said as he wheeled out from underneath the Cadillac he was working on
"Jax I'm getting married on Sunday. It's Friday it's one freaking night please I am desperate" Emma said
Jax sighed, the last year was a struggle for both him and Emma. The mystery man that Emma was talking to just a year ago ended up asking Emma to marry him after Jax and Emma's divorce was final. Sure it hurt Jax that Emma always called him so she could go on dates with Adam but Emma was happy and that was all that mattered to Jax
"Fine, bring him by around five I should be home" Jax said as he looked at his ex wife
"Thank you. I owe you Jax I really do" Emma said as she threw her arms around Jax who just stood there
"No problem, five no earlier" Jax said as he watched Emma walk away
Jax hear the knock on the door of his apartment that he rented across from the garage, he knew it was Emma and she was early
"Emma, I said" Jax said as he opened the door to see a crying Emma holding Abel who was sleeping "What's wrong?"
"He..Adam" Emma choked out as Jax took Abel from her arms and brought him to his crib in the bedroom
"Are you calm enough to talk?" Jax asked as he walked back to the kitchen to see Emma standing there staring
"I went home after I saw you and Adam had a woman there" Emma said
"Don't jump to conclusions Em" Jax said as he grabbed two beers from the fridge
"They were fucking in our bed" Emma said as Jax handed her the unopened beer
Jax sucked the air through his teeth "Emma I'm sorry"
"Why can't I ever find a good guy Jax?" Emma asked as she began to cry again
Jax wasn't sure how he should be consoling Emma, there stood his ex wife crying in front of him, about a guy who just broke her heart doing the same thing that Jax did to her
"Did he say anything?" Jax asked
"He didn't even see me, neither of them did" Emma cried
This put Jax in a rock and a hard place and couldn't believe the words that were about to come out of his mouth
"Do you love him?" Jax asked as he sipped his beer
Emma nodded her head yes as she wiped her eyes
"Put it in the past Em, your a good girl with a big heart. Don't dwell on the things that don't matter. I may not have been the greatest husband but I pushed you away too. Don't push Adam away, he's a good guy that treats you and Abel like gold" Jax said
Emma looked at Jax "You want me to pretend like it never happened?"
"Yes, because this is your second chance Emma. No more running or taking the easy way out. If he loves you he will tell you and then you tell him he's forgiven" Jax said
"Jax you can't be serious" Emma scoffed
"I am, go see him make things right, don't go down the path of destruction again" Jax said
Emma took a deep breath and for the first time since Jax met her did what she was told
Jax hasn't heard from Emma for a few hours deciding he should check on her before he headed to bed he sent her a text
Hope everything is okay keep me posted
No more then a few minutes later Jax smiled into the phone
He told me, we are going to get through this. No more fighting no more flighting. Thank you Jax. You are a good man with a good heart. I hope you find the right girl someday
Jax sighed he knew that he let the one thing that meant the most to him go besides Abel.
Well that is it!!! That's two books finished!!! I'm trying super hard to focus on the ones that aren't finished before I continue the others!!!!
