A few minutes later in walked Kian, Jc, Dom, Cameron, and Matt. They all looked at me in shock and I couldn't help but smile.
"What are you smiling for?" Cameron asked and I looked at my shoulder. "You guys look terrified." I said and they all nodded.
"You got shot.." Cameron said and I nodded. "Yeah.. That's what happens when you are trying to stop a robbery." I said and all of their eyes widened.
"You dumb ass." Dom said and I laughed. "Samantha, the police would like to talk to you." The nurse said and I nodded. She took out my IV and gave me some new clothes.
I went in the bathroom and got changed and I was about to walk out with the nurse but I felt someone grab my hand I looked down and Mary. She handed me my phone and we walked down to the police.
We sat in a room waiting for the police to come in. I just remembered that I had the video on my phone. "Hey Sam." I know that voice any where. "Mitch!" I said and stood up to hug him. After we hugged he looked at my shoulder.
"You got shot?" He asked and I nodded. I gave him my phone and showed him the video. "You shot him?" He asked and I nodded. "I didn't mean to. That was the worst thing I've ever done." I said and he nodded.
"It was in self defense." He said and I nodded. "Okay well i'm going to hand this over as evidence." He said and I nodded. He nodded back and walked out.
"Thank you." Mary said from beside me and I looked down at her. "What are you thanking me for?" I asked and she smiled. "For saving me." She said and it made me smile. "You don't have to thank me." I said and she hugged me.
Mitch walked in and smiled at what he was seeing. "Sam, if you don't mind, we need to talk to this little girl." Mitch said and Mary started shaking her head. "No no no." She kept saying over and over, as she hugged me tighter.
"Mitch, can I please stay in here? That's the only way she will talk to you." I said and he nodded. He sat in the chair on the other side of the table and took out his pen. "Okay sweetie, what's your name?" He said and Mary looked at me. "M-Mary." She said and Mitch smiled.
"What is your last name?" He asked and Mary looked at me again. I nodded and she looked at Mitch. "Sweeney." She said and I grabbed her hand. "Your doing great." I said and she giggled.
"Okay just a couple more Mary. How old are you?" He asked and she held up 5 fingers. Just like she did to me. "Okay when is your birthday?" he asked and she looked at me again and I nodded.
"March 12, 2012" She said and I looked at her. "What" she said and giggled. "That's Samantha's birthday too." Mitch said and Mary smiled.
"Wowwww" she said and i laughed. "Okay Mary last question, where are your mommy and daddy?" Mitch asked and the smile immediately got wiped off her face.
"Daddy went to heaven when I was 2 and Sammy said my mommy went to heaven last night." She said and Mitch nodded. "Sam?" He said and I looked at him.
"The man that robbed the gas station shot her mother when she walked out of the back room." I said and Mary nodded.
"I went to run to her, but Sammy said that bad man would have hurt me." Mary said and looked at me. "But Sammy saved us." She said and hugged me.
Mitch smiled at what she was saying about me, but he was also upset that all that has happened to her. "Alright let's go back to your room and pack your stuff." Mitch said and I nodded.
We got to the door and Mitch held me so I wouldn't walk in the room. "Go ahead in the room. I'll be in there in a second." I said and Mary nodded. She walked in the room and I shut the door.
"Sam.." Mitch said and I looked at him. "Yes..?" I said slowly. "Since Mary has no family around her, she will be forced to go into a foster home." Mitch said and my eyes widened. "Nooo" I said and he nodded.
"I'm sorry Samantha." He said and I shook my head. "Her birthday is in almost two months. She can't spend it in a foster home!" I said and Mitch looked down at the ground. "Well there is one thing you can do.." He said and looked up at me.
"What is it..?" I asked and he smiled. "You can keep her for at least 5 months, but after that we have to but her in foster care." Mitch said and i nodded. "Oh my god yes. I want to keep her!" I said and he laughed.
"Well tomorrow is January first so we will come pick her up around June first or second." He said and I nodded.
"Well you guys are free to go." He said and I nodded. "Just go to the front desk and get your medication and your paper work." He said and i hugged him.
"Thank you so much Mitch." I said as we let go of each other. Mitch walked down the hall and walked into the room.
Mary got up off my bed and waked over to me and hugged me.
"Okay.. you guys ready to go?" I asked.
"Yeah.. but what about her..?" Jc said and i looked at her.
"She's coming home with us." I said still looking at Mary and her face lit up with joy. "Really????" She said almost yelling and I nodded. "YAY!" She yelled and i smiled. I looked at the guys and they looked uncertain.
"Come on you guys." I said and i grabbed Mary's hand and walked out the room.
