A/N: Hey guys! This is my first book on this account, and I'll be posting hopefully weekly, I still have lots of editing to do! Thanks for giving me a chance, much love <3.
"Lily... honey, can you please, please, please get down from up there? It's really not safe for you to be on top of the swings, what if you fall? You'll hurt yourself really badly, and this time, you may not get so lucky. Last time, it was just a couple of scratches, but that doesn't mean you are going to be okay this time! You can't keep doing this and throwing tantrums every single time you don't get something your way is not acceptable," Lauren, the camp counselor, pleaded as she attempted to stay patient with Lily. "Please..." she begged once more to Lily. The camp child continued to sit on top of the swings adamant that she wouldn't get off until she got what she wanted.
"No, I won't come down! Not until I get my ice cream!" the child screamed back still sitting on top of the swingset. Suddenly, her legs swung back and forth and she was tottering precariously, about to fall.
"No! Lily!" Lauren screamed as she rushed towards the little girl who was slowly falling from the swings. Lily slipped down a little more, but right before she fell off, she caught herself at the last moment.
"Lily, please, I don't want you to get hurt, which you will if you fall. Please! If you hadn't caught yourself, you might have died! I would love to give you ice cream if I could but you are lactose intolerant, so I can't give you any ice cream," Lauren replied, as she attempted to convince the child, her tone exasperated as Lily continued to ignore her requests. Lily continued to sit on top of the swingset, her arms crossed across her chest, as she tried to form her face into a menacing frown. Lauren couldn't help but laugh at how adorable Lily looks when she wants to look mad. Her dark brown hair framed her face, and her chubby 7-year old face along with her multi-colored large eyes made it hard for Lauren to take her seriously. But when Lily got even angrier, Lauren regretted the tiniest laugh that she had let slip through.
"Did you hear what I said? Do you need me to repeat it for you? Well here: no! I don't care what you think, you don't care what's best for me, you just don't want to get in trouble!" Lily said, her voice starting out unnaturally calm, and then transforming to a loud and low crescendo of anger. On the last word, her voice went deep, and the whites of her eyes turned black for a split second, but fast enough that Lauren couldn't see what had happened. "Now, leave before you're the one that ends up getting hurt." Lily lets out a little laugh, and cold, icy smile spread across her face.
"Lily! What did we say about meaningless threats and lies? And I said get down, right this moment!" Lauren says, starting to get annoyed. She rubbed her temples with her hands, trying to stop the migraine that was coming on strong. She looked up at Lily and rolled her eyes at Lily's abhorrent behavior. "You do realize that I am a camp counselor here, and you better do what I say Lily!"
"Ok, I guess that I'll come down from here. But when you regret your decision, just know that you were the one who asked me to do this." Lily jumped down from the metal bars of the swingset, landing unharmed on the ground. Lauren's eyebrows furrow, unsure if she had triggered an episode, but shrugs it off. Lily had been getting better and better at controlling her anger and powers. She noticed a dent in the metal of the swings in the shape of the hand of a seven-year-old girl. Lauren attempts to shrugs it off due to the nature of this camp, but it still freaked her out. It is a camp for kids who are considered to be a little... strange, due to something inexplicable. But her eyebrows furrowed even deeper when Lily got up and rushed towards Lauren. She stood where she is, not expecting the impact of Lily running into her to hurt that much. But when Lily rammed into Lauren head on, she went flying backward. Lauren fell onto the top of one of the covers on the play structure, slides down, hitting her head on a metal bar, and finally crumpling to the ground. Her strawberry blonde hair covered most of her face as she stared up at the blue, cloudless sky. But her mouth was agape and her eyes were wide open in surprise, fear, and sadness. A dark, constant stream of deep red blood flowed from the back of her head, staining her golden curls slowly, like water dripping from a leaky faucet. Lauren's limbs were splayed about her, like a broken doll. The ground around her turns a dark red color as blood pools around her body from the wound. The bark chips turn an ugly shade of red as they soak in the dark blood.
