Rose Tyler watched as the TARDIS disappears in thin air, as her Doctor leaves. The New Doctor stood behind her, watching the same scene, remembering every single time that he had to say goodbye. Rose turned around and looked at him, not saying anything, not doing anything, just looking.
"I'm still him, you know," the New Doctor said.
"Yes, I know, but he's more him than you are. You still have every single memory, every single moment we've spent together?" Rose asked.
"Yes. Every detail of our lives together is branded into my mind, and that is something that I will never be able to lose." The New Doctor said, smiling.
"Well, let's go home, I guess," Rose said, wiping a tear off of her face. She grabbed his hand and walked to the truck Jackie brought.
"All right, you two, let's go before this beach gets any more depressing," Jackie said, hopping into the driver's seat.
At her house, Rose walked into the kitchen and brought out two cups of coffee and a piece of paper.
"What's that for?" The Doctor asked, raising one eyebrow as he took a sip of the hot coffee.
"This," Rose Tyler explained, "is your story. How will we explain how, suddenly, a strange man with magnificent hair just appeared, without any documentations or papers or genealogy. It's also your name."
"My name?" the Doctor said, watching Rose as she scribbled down the story of how he came to be.
"Yes, well, John Smith is a common name, too common, for a man with such an amazing story." Rose mumbled, still scrawling down ideas of how to introduce him.
"What's wrong with John Smith? It's perfect for me, I think." The Doctor said, staring at the paper.
"Oh, fine. Listen to this: John Smith's parents were sailors. When Mrs. Smith had John, she was in the middle of the Mediterranean. He lived on that boat until he was 12, when his father died. Him and his mother bought a newer boat and sailed in the Pacific until he turned 37, when he decided that he's had enough," Rose said, looking at the Doctor.
"That's got to be the worst story I've heard my entire life," the Doctor said, laughing.
"Oh, shut up," Rose said, crumpling the paper and throwing it at him. "Do you have a better one?"
"Yes, in fact, I do," the Doctor said. "My name is John Smith and I recently moved here. And if they ask where I'm from, I'll just say far, far away."
"All right, that was better, but what if they ask where? What will you say then?" Rose questioned.
"I'll say that I'd rather not talk about it and we'll move on," the Doctor said.
"Oh, okay. Here's another problem: you need a job," Rose teased, poking the Doctor in the ribs.
"What? Why?" He asked, staring at Rose.
"Because working at a store isn't enough money to pay off a house and buy food for 2 people, not including gas money and bills. So, what non-extraterrestrial things do you enjoy, Doctor?"
"I, well, I don't know. I haven't really tried anything, I guess," the Doctor said, thinking. Rose smiled and grabbed her shoes and coat.
"Well, come on, then!" Rose yelled through the door.
"Where are we going?" The Doctor asked, pulling his trench coat back on.
"Out!" Rose yelled, grabbing his hand and running to the car.
