five: confrontations

NIGHTFALL GREW ON the ship sailing across the seven seas. Captain Jack Sparrow was snoring quite loudly across a bench near the lower port, as his crew were still hard at work. Carina was sitting silently, with her journal in her lap and a pencil in her hand sketching away in her journal. Henry stood at the end of ship, looking into the endless wanders of the sea. Iris had sat near Carina, carefully examining the notes the woman had written in the journal.
Every so often, Iris would glaze over at Henry, resulting in her stomach to flutter. Carina had caught on, studying the look of infatuation on the princess' face, as her lips curled up into a sly smile.
"You love him. Don't you?" Carina asked, her eyes staring down at the sketch she was creating in the journal.
Iris immediately looked away from Henry, her cheeks glowing with red. "Is it that obvious?" She meekly spoke, an embarrassed smile shown on her face.
Carina let out a light chuckle, shaking her head with amusement. "Yes, Princess it's that obvious," Carina said, "I know he loves you too."
The brunette-haired princess stared at her with bewilderment. "No, he doesn't. Henry only has ever saw me as a friend, nothing more." Iris's words made her stomach drop with sorrow.
Iris loved Henry so much it hurt. Henry was the only person who saw Iris for who she was-Iris-not Iris Monte, Princess of Britain.
"Not true," Carina insisted, her glaze finally laying on the woman sitting next to her. "Henry loves you more than you know. I can see it in his eyes."
Iris scoffed in disagreement. "He held your port, I can really see the love."
Carina rolled her eyes at her stubbornness. "It was my stern, for the last time. And I was going to die if Henry hadn't caught me. He saved my life and I'm forever grateful for that. But Iris, believe me, he loves you."
Iris bit the inside of her cheek, staring across the ship at the young pirate still staring out into the darken abyss. She placed her feet on the wooden boards, walking across the ship to Henry.
The brunette placed her hands onto the ledge, looking up at the starry nighttime sky above. Thousands of tiny, white and shining stars danced in the navy-blue sky; each creating an image to be depicted.
Iris studied how concentrate Henry looked; his forehead crinkled, eyebrows frowned, lips pursed, both hands lay steadily on his hips. The light from the moonlight shined upon Henry, his skin to glowing. Iris felt nervous for the first time in her life around Henry. Her hands were clammy and she felt shaken.
"What's on your mind, pirate?" Iris laughed softly. An amusement grin grew on Henry's face.
"Just wanting to find the Trident and my father," Henry said, his tongue brushing across his lips. He placed his hand upon the ledge, inches away from Iris's.
Iris lifted her hand, placing it onto his, her fingers curling slightly. "Of course, we'll find the Trident and most importantly your father," She encouraged. "Henry, you're the most determined person I've ever met. You wouldn't dare give up. That's how I know we'll succeed."
Henry's lips tugged into a wide smile. He took Iris into a warm embrace, his arms wrapped around her waist. Iris felt stunned for a brief moment before she wrapped her arms around his neck, her head leaning against his chest. Henry pulled away, the smile slowly fading away as he looked into Iris's eyes, he suddenly felt hypnotized. His hand that was wrapped around her waist trailed up to her cheek. Henry's hand went down to her chin, slightly lifting it up, as his lips parted with ease. Iris gulped, licking her dry lips, her body craving Henry's touch.
Before a single touch could happen, Jack had awoken with a startle, instantly pulling the two apart.
Henry had then felt anger raising up in his, as eyes looked at Jack, realizing the dead pirates were coming after them, because of the pirate. "Why did I even bother coming to you?" Henry hissed, "The dead are hunting us down and you do nothing."
"Nothing! You call this nothing?" Jack commented, gesturing to his rum in his hand and his make-shift bed.
"You're drunk! And you're sleeping," Henry outraged.
"My point exactly! I am doing two things at once," Jack slurred, starting to stand up.
"Oh, because you're so good a multi-tasking!" Iris sarcastically commented, rolling her eyes with annoyance.
"You can't save the unsaveable, mates," Jack pointed out, as Henry had started to walk away, but sudden turned around.
Henry had grabbed a sword from a box full of them, pointing it at Jack. "Like it or not, Jack, you're going to help me," He demanded. "I will break my father's curse."
A gun had cocked, as Jack had the gun pointed at Henry. Iris immediately widen her eyes, coming in-between the two quarreling pirates. "Hey, Hey! Can we please just discuss this like civilized people?"
Jack had deeply glared at the pirate. "Next time if your boy raised a sword at me, he'd be the last to die," He sneered, his eyes snapping in the direction of the princess.
Henry puts the sword down, as well as Jack lowers the gun. Henry sighs, before walking over to the ledge of the ship. Iris follows in suit, watching as he puts his small telescope to his eye.
Carina had joined them, her journal in her hands. "Just because you can't see something, doesn't mean it's not there."
"Like the map?" Henry questioned, gesturing to the journal.
"I have to find it," Carina presumed, her fingers lingering over the journal. "It's the only link to who I am. Who my father was."
"So, we've both spent our lives searching for our fathers," Henry observed, eyes looking straight out into the ocean.
Iris felt suddenly out of place. She knew who her father was-she was royalty. Iris never had a close relationship with her parents. They were always busy ruling over their country, and she was watched by nannies and maids. Iris watched smiles grow onto their faces, and her head drooped to the side, a cloud of sadness swallowing her whole.
