Dancing In The Rain
Boredom. That was it. Just utter boredom. I was on the tour bus, laying in my bunk. My laptop was broken, so I didn't have anything to do. Sighing and groaning, I rolled over in my bunk, smacking my face on the wood paneling.
"Oww!" I yelled, rubbing my freckled nose. Phil, who was in the bunk below me, stuck his head out of the curtain. "You alright up there, Mary?" he laughed.
I narrowed my green eyes at him and ran my hands through my now blond hair.
"I'm booooorrrreeeedddd." I complained to Phil, whining like a child. He just smiled at me.
"Then go bother someone." he said.
Sighing, I jumped off my bunk and headed to the back of the bus. I looked out the window as I sat down on the leather seats. The sky was a whitish gray and it looked like it was going to rain. I watched the shadows of trees as they flew past our bus.
Alan came to the back and sat beside me. "Is this activity fun?" he laughed.
I sighed and rolled my eyes at him.
"We're going to stop at this food place downtown so we can eat while we drive down there. Are you hungry?" he asked.
I shrugged, making the shoulder of my sweater fall down. Phil came back and sat beside Alan. He sighed as well. We were all bored.
We could hear Tino calling from the front. "We're stopping!" he called. I smiled and ran up the front, but not before hearing angry whispers from the back. I stopped for a moment, but I just ignored the feeling and ran outside into the now falling rain, running towards the vacant Wendy's.
Phil POV
"Dude! What the hell are you doing?" I asked angrily as I watched Mary run out of the bus.
Alan just looked at me. "What?" he asked, pushing some of his bright hair out of his face.
"She's mine. Back off." I said, seriously, narrowing my eyes at Alan. Alan knew I had liked Mary for a while now, since we became close with her because she was our Sound Tech. He knew I had dibs. Austin knew, Shay knew, Tino knew, and especially Alan should know.
"What are you talking about, man?" Alan asked, raising an eyebrow.
I scoffed at him and stood, exiting the bus.
Alan POV
Phil ran off the bus and into Wendy's. What was his problem? I knew he liked Mary, and I liked Mary, but I never told him. What makes him suddenly think that? Hmm. I thought.
I shook my head and stood, also heading out of the tour bus and into the wet parking lot. I ran into the vacant fast food restaurant and shook water out of my hair, Tino, Austin, and Shay following me.
Mary was already ordering. "I'll have the number one and a tea please." she said, smiling. For some reason, she looked really pretty in the dim light.
She stood to the side as we all took our orders. Phil kept glaring at me as we ate. Weirdo, I thought. "Hey, Mary." I started, but Phil's dark eyes bore into me as if daring me to say another word.
"Yes?" she asked, sipping her drink cutely. I smiled.
"I left something in the bus. Will you go with me to get it?" I asked. Phil's jaw seemed to drop just a bit and his eyes seemed to hold some kind of murderous tint to them.
"I'll go with you, Alan!" Phil yelled, standing up. He walked past my side of the table and grabbed my arm, pulling me to the door. I gulped a little. I knew he was mad now.
Phil POV
"Dude! For the last time, she is MINE." I said, pulling on the front of his shirt so our eyes were level. Anger pulsed in my veins.
"Phil-" Alan started, but I cut him off.
"Stay the hell away." I added, pushing him away by his shirt and leaving the bus.
Mary POV
Phil came back in all weird. His eyes averted all my gazes. I looked at Tino and he shrugged. Alan didn't come back in.
"Where's Alan?" I asked. Everyone shrugged, except Phil. With a weird sense of straining on his usually happy voice, he pointed outside and said. "Bus."
I shrugged and sipped my drink.
*********
Alan POV
I avoided Phil for the rest of the evening. It was odd. He's never been so mad like that before. Hmm.
I was once again, bored. It was still raining and we were parked at a family park and rest stop so we could refill the bus. I sighed, rolling over in my bunk.
Mary had her headphones in and was looking outside. I crawled out of my bunk and made my way over to her.
I tapped her shoulder. She looked at me and smiled. My heart melted.
"Hey, are you still bored?" I asked, glancing outside.
She nodded and chuckled.
"I have an idea." I smirked.
"What?" she questioned, tilting her blond head and questioning me with her dazzling green eyes.
I grabbed her hand. "C'mon!" I said.
I led her out of the bus and into the rain.
"What are we doing Alan?" she asked, laughing. I blushed a little, but I don't think she could see it.
I led her into the middle of the park. "Dance!" I told her goofily. She started laughing really hard as I attempted to dance in the pouring rain. I did the Macarena and some free-styling. Then I had another idea.
I grabbed her hand and put my arm around her slim waist and we started dancing. She blushed, hiding the freckles on her nose.
I couldn't resist it then. I leaned my face towards hers and kissed her. Slowly and carefully. She automatically kissed back. I smiled into the kiss, pulling away slowly.
"Mary, I..." I started, but she placed a cold finger over my mouth.
"I don't like you Alan." she said, seriously.
My heart seems to hurt when she said that.
"I love you." she finished, smiling. I kissed her again, moving my hands to her waist while she tangled her hands in my wet hair.
"I love you, Mary." I replied, smiling softly.
