"You really should be sleeping," Erin told her niece as she shoved the dinner into her mouth. The woman was home a whole half hour before she got called back into work, working yet another shift at the hospital.
"So should you," Lexie told her, as she started packing her another meal to take with her, throwing in a few extra things in case her aunt decided to share with the other overworked nurses at Beacon Hills Memorial. "But I'm nearly done working on the new plays for Finstock. Once those are finalized, I'll go to bed, I swear."
"Good because the last thing I need is to hear you fell asleep in class because that coach overworks you. Especially when his team-"
Lexie held up a finger, stopping her, "First of all, I'm the manager so they're my team too and I'd appreciate not hearing anything other than encouragement about this season or the team cause I need all the positive vibes or whatever other crap people seem to believe in to make this another state winning one. Secondly, when have I ever fallen asleep in class?"
Her aunt nodded, "Good point. And are you going to be visiting your father this weekend?"
"Plan on it," she replied, taking the dirty dishes away from her and handing her the packed food. "I'm thinking Sunday afternoon."
"Okay, well, I better get going then," Erin jumped off the chair, following her niece over to the sink and giving her a kiss on the head. "Don't stay up too-"
A howl pierced their ears, cutting off conversation as they listened to the call of a lone wolf. It was unlike any Lexie had heard. She turned to her aunt, breaking the through the sound of running water from the sink and crickets outside, "What was that?"
Aunt Erin shook her head, "I don't know. Hopefully nothing to worry about."

"I'm just saying," Lexie said as she walked arm in arm with Lydia into school. "That theory is insane. And you think we going to prove it before we're 30?"
"Before we graduate college," her best friend told her in that matter-of-fact voice.
Lexie shook her head, "Well then, if that's true, then your name will be the first on everything, not just the paper."
"That's all I ask," Lydia said.
As they got closer to the school, Lexie spotted a couple of players from the lacrosse team. She had been talking to them before break about getting in some extra practice over the holidays to make sure they were ready for first practice when they came back. Lexie leaned in closer to Lydia as another of their friends spotted them, "I'll catch up with you before practice."
"You better," she answered before they broke away. Lydia power walked into the school, exuding the kind of confidence that Lexie knew only leaders could have. Stiles Stilinski, one of the guys she wanted to talk to, called out to her best friend, only to be ignored.
"-Like you're gonna ignore me. You're the-" Stiles jumped when he turned around and saw Lexie standing next to his best friend, Scott McCall. "Lexie. Hey! How was break?"
"Productive," she answered. "Like I want to hear you two had. You two get in that extra practice I told you about? Scott, I know you wanted to try and make first line this season."
The shaggy-haired boy with big brown eyes nodded, "Yeah. And- um- thanks for sending me those exercises for practice. They definitely helped."
She nodded, "No problem. Been making them for Greenberg for a while now. Frankly, I think he's just trying to be a kissass because I'm closer to Finstock. That boy does not know when to quit when it comes to Coach. And what about you Stilinski, any practice?"
