They moved in quietly as Danny left the locker room which left Scott alone. She felt grateful that she kept her father from going after everyone in the game. Her team was going to state. State! Lexie just wished she could've been worrying about practices and buying a dress for the dance instead of keeping her father from shedding more blood or her cousin being a fugitive. God, what was Leah going to think when she found out about Dad?
She kept her family hidden in Finstock's office as he already left. Derek killed the lights before they made their way silently to the showers. The boys in this family and their dramatics. Finding a stray ball, Derek rolled it out to where Scott could see it, getting his attention.
Lexie heard him pick it up and follow its path. Her eyes rolled up to the ceiling when she saw he was just in a towel. She sighed. "Could you please put some pants on?"
"Thank God!" Scott said when he saw her and Derek standing side-by-side. "Where the hell have you guys been? Do you have any idea what's been going on?"
Peter stepped out of the shadows, looking at one of the sticks. "I really don't get lacrosse."
Scott turned to look at him. "It was you-"
"When I was in high school, we played basketball," Peter told him, ignoring his reaction. Scott's mouth hung open as he looked back at her and Derek then to Peter. "There's a real sport. Still, I read somewhere that lacrosse comes from Native Americans tribes and that they played it to resolve conflict. I have that right? Hm. I have l little conflict of my own to resolve, Scott. But I need your help to do it."
"I'm not helping you kill people," Scott told him.
"Well, I don't want to kill all of them. Just the responsible ones. And that doesn't have to include-" Peter looked to them.
Lexie looked down for a moment and then up at Scott. "Allison."
"You're on his side? She's your best friend." Scott's mouth dropped again before turning to Derek. "Are you forgetting the part where he killed your sister?"
"It was a mistake," Derek replied.
"What?"
"It happens."
Peter called to him, "Scott - I think you're getting the wrong impression of us. We really just want to help you reach your full potential."
"By killing my friends," Scott reminded him. Lexie didn't need the reminder, not after that night she spent running around with them here. Her father of all people trying to get her to kill some the people she cared most about.
He shrugged. "Sometimes the people closest to you - can be the ones holding you back the most."
"If they're holding me back from becoming a psychotic nut job like you, I'm okay with that," he said, his voice softening in the end.
Peter stepped onto the tile toward him. Scott looked back at the cousins for help, but they couldn't move. Not without giving themselves away. "Maybe- you could try and see things -" he held out his hand, his fingernails turning into claws "- from my perspective."
He dug his nails into the back of Scott's neck. Lexie had seen Aunt Talia do it once or twice. It was painful from what she could tell and her aunt told her that you had to be careful or else you could paralyze the person or cause brain damage. Her father did it with ease like he had been doing it just yesterday. Peter pulled his claws out, blood running down Scott's neck as he dropped to his knees.
Peter headed for the door. Lexie nodded for Derek to follow him. At least one of them should keep an eye on him at all times now. Derek did what he was told. Once he rounded the corner, Lexie went to Scott's side.
