A/N: Because the timeline of the show is continuously messed with, I've decided to place the Hale fire at 10 years ago from the timing of the start of the show. Just figured I'd warn you.

"We have to go help!" Lexie said as she pulled on her shoes. Gunshots and a lone howl. Hunters and wolves. A fight that had been going on for centuries was now right on their doorstep and Lexie would be damned if she didn't try to protect her home.

"We are not going anywhere!" Aunt Erin told her. "You are getting back into bed. Right now."

She shook her head, heading towards the door with purpose in each step. What if someone was hurt? Dead? What if was Derek? Scott? This Alpha that had been nothing but trouble for everyone involved, whose identity was still a mystery. Lexie wanted answers and she wanted them now. Pulling open the door, the wind hit her hard with its chill.

"Leah, I-"

Lexie stopped in her tracks, one foot outside and another still in the house. Did she just- "Aunt Erin?"

"Lexie," Erin told her as she turned slowly on her heels to face her, coming back in and closing the door behind her. "You are not leaving this house. Please, just go back to bed. We'll learn more about it in the morning. I promise."

She nodded, kicking off her shoes. Lexie was too stunned to speak as she went back to her room and crawled back under the covers, the heat of where her body had been warming her back up from the brief bit of cold air that came with leaving something so warm.

Aunt Erin hadn't called her by her mom's name like that in years. She did in the beginning after her mother had died. And even then it was when she was about to do something dangerous that made her aunt think that one wrong move would wind up with her dead. Without any family.

And she was right. She would find out the next day what had happened.

..............................

Lexie was right about one thing though. Scott was out last night after he had heard the noises. Guess having a mom without super hearing had some perks to it. But whatever had happened there, he had seen Argent talking to some woman and something happened that wasn't good. Apparently, she'd given whatever she shot at 48 hours to live. They would need to find out who fast.

But first they had to make it through school and Stiles' incessant questions, "If Derek isn't the Alpha if he's not the one who bit you, then who did?"

"We don't know," Lexie answered him, sitting next to him in the back row.

"Did the Alpha kill the bus driver?"

"I don't know," Scott answered this time.

"Does Allison's dad know about the Alpha?" Stiles asked.

The whole room jumped when Scott almost shouted back, "I don't know! Jeez."

The last word was a comment on his test grade. Lexie had practically ignored their teacher when he handed back her own test and she looked away from Scott's D- to find her A+, Stiles coming up only a few points short with an A. He joked, "Dude, you need to study more. That was a joke. Scott, it's one test. You're gonna make it up. Do you want help studying?"

"No. I'm studying with Allison after school today."

"What?" Lexie's jaw dropped. "She didn't tell me that."

"That's my boy," Stiles congratulated him.

"We're just studying," Scott told them.

Lexie shook her head, smirking, "Oh sweetie, do you think every time I tell you two knuckleheads I'm studying with Isaac we're getting any actual work done? There's no way you're studying."
