19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry Potter's second son, Albus Severus Potter, attends his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The magical realm had been at peace ever since Voldemort's defeat, and for once, the gifted children felt normal and safe.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione lived happy lives with children, family, and friends. They found a way to mend their broken hearts from the lost of close friends in the Second Wizarding War, knowing that they didn't die in vain.

With great lost came great grief, but great sacrifices. Voldemort's era was a time of lost for everyone. Life seemed to be drained from their eyes when they spoke, and it appeared that every wizard had been affected tremendously from that time.

Some more than others . . .

First Year

Albus Potter boarded the Hogwarts Express with weary eyes while sitting in a crowded compartment with his cousin Rose Granger-Weasley and her new first year friends. The girls immediately gushed at Albus's entrance and whispered amongst each other.

"Hello, Ronnie." He greeted Rose in a mellow tone. She scolded at his down mood.

"Merlin, could you be anymore cheery?" Rose teased in aggravation. "We're going to Hogwarts for crying out loud! Why so dull?"

"I'm just really worried about the sorting ceremony. What if I don't get sorted into Gryffindor?"

Rose instantly rolled her eyes, "You've been going on about this all summer! It doesn't matter if you're Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, or even Slytherin. The thing that matters most is who you are."

"My dad said the same thing." Albus sighed heavily, unconvinced.

"You should try to listen to him. Uncle Harry is one of the greatest wizards of all time." Rose proposed to argue her claim. Ironically, she shared features with her father but had a mind like her mother. Somehow, their personalities combined to make a playful know-it-all.

"I know. It's just that—"

Rose gasped aloud, "The train is moving! We're leaving! We're finally going to Hogwarts!" Rose happily waved goodbye to her mother, father, and younger brother, Hugo, when the trains whistle blew aloud. "Say goodbye, Albus!"

Albus looked out the window only to make eye contact with his dad who starred back with a reassuring smile. He smiled back to his father and lifted his hand to wave goodbye before losing sight of his family on his way to Hogwarts.

II

In the next compartment, A raven-haired girl sat silently alone watching the beautiful landscape of the UK through the glass window. Soft voices from other conversations drifted throughout the isle but she didn't bother to listen.

Upon hearing shuffling at the compartment's entrance she turned to see a short boy with ghost, white hair standing there hesitantly. It didn't take a genius to know who he was. That signature hair color was his mark, Malfoy.

When he looked back at the girl to see her expressionless stare, a wave of nervousness washed over him. While he tried to speak, the words tumbled over one another causing him to scratch the back of his neck subconsciously.

She rolled her eyes in annoyance before sighing, "Well, are you going to just stand there or sit down?" Her voice was so monotone and sharp that it came off as intimidating.
