~*Anna's Point of View*~

I slowly open my eyes only to clamp them shut again because of the sudden blinding sun in my eyes. I take my to time sit up and stare down at the sand, letting my eyes adjust to light. I think hard and long, trying to recall how the hell I ended up here, lying covered in hot sand in the middle of the desert. Shaking my head, I decide to worry about figuring out where to go from here.

I scan my surroundings checking for signs of danger and lo and behold I see a dappled, beautiful dapple grey mare seemingly lost and hobbled with rope tied around her front legs keeping them from moving too far apart. She was nibbling on undergrowth in the distance. I stand up and swipe the sand off my thick, brown leather chaps, and before I do anything else, I take an inventory of all my stuff.  Pistols, bullets, gunpowder, rope, compass, pocket watch, hat, and flask are all there. Good. I have a strange feeling I am going to need a little whiskey down the road.

I let out out a sigh of relief seeing that all of my possessions are still with me. Praise God. Nobody robbed me or Lord help them.

The mare was still eating the brush, and I carefully stood up and sauntered over to the horse, the metal spurs on my heavy, muddy, tall, leather boots making a jingling noise with every step I took. Her ears flicked towards me as she lifted her head from her grazing, she whinnied at me as I approached. I held my gloved hand out flat, palm up. She slowly took tiny steps forward, snorting before she sniffed my hand, breathing heavily. With my other hand I stoked her snout and scratched her forehead underneath her forelock, slowly earning her trust. I noticed she was wearing a halter but no saddle.  I took the rope I had on my belt and tied it to the cheek pieces on either side of her face, creating a make-shift briddle. There was tag on the bridle that read 'Gunsmoke'. It was a peculiar name for such a beautiful mare, but it suited her none the less. I leaned down to untie the rope around Gunsmoke's legs and she stood patiently. She clearly had been ridden before and trained properly so I went around to her side and swung myself up onto her back. She tossed her head once but then stood still. I pulled out my compass, took off my glove and licked my finger.  The wind was blowing east, so i decided to ride in that general direction.

I nudged her her sides "Giddyap, Gunsmoke," I commanded and we off at a leisurely lope.
