The King

Sarah's POV

I walked into the village as grass and everything grows. I glance around seeing people there. We were lead to the castle and the guards tensed as I walked by. Same as always, I see.

"Takes them to my father." The Prince orders some guards and they bowed. It took a while for us to reach the king and they opened the door. Midnight went in first, then me, and last the woman. The King laying on a bed as he opens his eyes. I see soft green eyes staring at someone. It's not me.

"My dear shining Luna. My moon. My beautiful moon." The King said as the woman walks around me. Wait. Luna?

"Wait. As in The Queen Luna?" Midnight asked and the woman had sigh.

"Yes. I'm the Queen Luna. Dear. You're sick. Why won't you listen to me? Your advisor is evil." Luna said and the King smiles gently up at her, reaching out to hold her hand. Luna lets him as she held his hand tight. The King doesn't answer and looks at me as he smiles.

"Your mother was so beautiful. My moon and her were great friends. Until your mother....passed." The King said and Luna looks away.

"I know. Luna came to take care of me." I said smiling gently at the King. The King looks over at Midnight and smiles.

"Ah. The little princess of elves. My. How you've grown." The King said and Midnight looked shocked.

"H-how?" Midnight asked and the King smiles.

"Your parents come and go from time to time before they stopped coming. Then they had you. A feisty little elf of mixed blood. So interesting." The King said and Midnight leans in grinning.

"Then! You know my parents?!" Midnight exclaims happily as the King nods. She seems very interested on hearing about her parents.

"Your mother was the best Queen of Nobles I've ever met. She was very beautiful and very stubborn. While your dad, on the hand..." The King trails off as he chuckles. Midnight tilts her head.

"You're dad is an idoit." Luna said as she huffs. I let out a short giggle.

"He is not. Just a little..." The King trails off again thinking of a word.

"Stupid?"

"No."

"Weird?"

"No"

"An Airhead?"

"No"

"Idoit?"

"You already said that!"

I watched Midnight, Luna, and the King picking out words to describe Midnight's father. I thought the times I met her parents when my mother was alive.

"Hm....how about....silly?" I offered and they looked at me.

"Yes! That's it. Everytime your father was around your mother, he could always make her laugh. And he was so excited about being a father that he  ran through the entire castle, town ad forest shouting it." The King said and Midnight laughs.

"Yep. I had to go to drag him back to the castle cause he ran into a tree when he was running back here." Luna said smirking. The King coughs a few times as Luna looks sad. I understood why I was requested here. And it's not about the Prince.

"Please. From a sick old man's wish. Can you please change me into one of your creatures?" The King asked and Luma gasped.

"Dear! You can't be serious?!" Luna exclaims as she stood up, leaning over over the King a bit.

"Actually. Do you have a court yard?" I asked and Luna looks at me then the King who nods.

"We do, but I disappeared to take care of you, no one was allowed in unless I came back or the King gave permission for someone to clean it." Luna said and I smiled.

"I can't change you into one of my creatures, but I can save you by turning into a tree. A tree that blooms only once a year, at only one season, and holds the most delicious apples. But of course no one can pick them without your permission." I said and the King smiles.

"I would love that." The King said as we helped him up. Luna lead the way to the court yard as I felt the Prince following us. That silly boy.

Midnight's POV

Once Luna opened the gates to the court yard. It was a small open area, but still big enough to hold a huge tree or two.

"I will need you to stay standing for this. Can you do that?" Sarah asked and the King let's out a laugh that was cut off by him coughing.

"I can. Don't be so fooled by my strength to still stand." The King said and Sarah laughs a bit before nodding. Sarah and the King held out their hands at arms length and grasped each other's hands. Sarah closed her eyes as she bows her head and begins whispering something. I only caught a few words. "Kind King Into Mighty Tree." I stepped back and did Luna as the King starts turning into a tree. Sarah let's go of his hand as his hand turns into a branch. Branches spread out as the tree grew taller. Soon it was done. The King's face stayed, but was a lot bigger. Sarah taps the ground with her foot and small rivers grew out and a small mount surrounded the King. Grass and flowers grew as well. Luna looks around a let's out a smile.

"Thank you. Your mother would be so proud of you." The King said and Sarah nods before bowing and walking back to us. Luna walks up and plants a kiss on his cheek before smiling and walking away. I waved grinning as he smiles before closing his eyes.

"Ah. He always goes to sleep. That bastard." Luna said and we laughed. The Prince grabs my arm, stopping me as Midnight growls and Luna huffs.

"What did you do to my father?!" The Prince demands and I sigh.

"Save his life. That's what she did." Luna said and the Prince glares at her.

"She killed him! She turned my father into a tree!" The Prince said glaring at me. Midnight pulls me out of his grasp and pushes me as we walked away.

"It's what your father asked of her. He asked her to turn him into that. Ask him yourself. Good day, your highness!" Midnight snaps at him as Luna shook her head.

"Let's just go back to the forest." Luna said as she walks ahead of us. Me and Midnight looked at each other and back at Luna. I wish I could help her fixed the relationship between her and her son, but there's nothing I can do. I'm just the forest core. Maybe Jason can help! At least, I think he can.

"You want me to do what?" Jason asked and Midnight smiles.

"Speak with the King." Midnight said as Jason sighs.

"You really want me dead, don't you?" Jason asked glaring at her as Midnight grins. Maybe this wasn't a good idea. Hehe. Oh dear. Please don't die.
