You and your best friend, B/F/N, sat on the bus, chucking at a movie she'd downloaded on her phone. You were on the bus for your senior class trip to the beach. There'd been two buses that left Phoenix Drop High early in the morning, the girls' bus and the boys' bus. The entire senior class was going on a trip for the weekend, and you and your best friends had many big plans--ones that especially didn't involve boys.
You had just been reeling from a breakup with one of the more popular, handsome guys in your class--Levin. You loved him, but he obviously loved his sports, namely hockey, more--and that one girl who never failed to get on your nerves. (A/N; i just came up with a sport relevant to the story don't hurt me :/).
"So you're not even gonna try to talk to him?" B/F/N asked once the movie was over and she put her phone away.
You turned your gaze back to the window and the outside world. "No... B/F/N, I thought we agreed not to talk about this? It's still kind of a sore subject, plus he's moved on? Remember, he just started dating (random girl's name)."
(random girl's name) was your stereotypical "mean girl". She was Miss Popular, and Miss Annoying, in your eyes. She'd had her sights on Levin ever since you two started dating, probably just to be spiteful. Then, she started dating him right after you broke up with him, and you were nearly positive she had no romantic interest at all--she just did it to be a bitch.
"Ah yes," B/F/N said sarcastically. "You're just gonna let him become infatuated with her and then watch her dump him when another girl starts dating another guy."
"It's a cycle, B/F/N," you murmured.
"Cycles have to end somewhere," B/F/N responded.
You snorted. "The sun is a cycle, and luckily that never ends. I'd rather stand back and let (random girl's name) win anyway."
B/F/N sighed. "Alright whatever, suit yourself. Just know that I warned you."

After a few more hours, the girls' bus arrived finally at the hotel by the ocean. It was large and painted a cheerful yellow, with plenty of windows and it was a tall, looming shape. The ocean was only a walk across the road, and a couple of cars were parked outside the hotel. In the darkness of the night, it was hard to see the waves or the sand, but you and B/F/N could hear the water just fine.
"Isn't this fun?" B/F/N said enthusiastically, getting her duffel bag out of the overhead compartment, and you did the same. "We get to go to the beach for our senior trip! I'm so excited for tomorrow."
"Yeah, I guess," you replied as the two of you began to walk down the aisle of the bus and out onto the pavement. It was windy, but warm, and the wind blew the aroma of the ocean at your faces.
"Aww, Y/N, you sound so say, why?" B/F/N asked. But you didn't bother to answer her question as your eyes accidentally made eye contact with the one person you were trying to avoid; Levin. He was surrounded by popular and attractive girls and guys, and his fingers were laced with (random girl's name)'s. His sparkly eyes met your E/C ones for a split-second before he turned away and stared back at (random girl's name).
"Let's just check in," you said, not answering her question. "I just want tonight to be over."

You fell back on the bed of your hotel room. You and B/F/N had luckily gotten a room all to yourself. It was small as a hotel room should be, with one bathroom in the corner, two twin beds, a pull out couch, and a TV sitting across from the couch.
