The next morning Kate and Reed were already awake and talking quietly. Lauren was awake but pretended to be asleep. I was asleep beside Andy. His arm was laying across my body. Kate sees a drone and they wake us up. "Huh? What's going on?" I ask groggily. I feel Andy's arm slide off my body as I sit up. My heart beats a bit faster. We all get up and run out the door. "They know the car we can't get out of here!" Kate said, clearly panicked. "Look! The truck!" Lauren pointed to a truck and we ran over to it. A guy was walking to the truck and Lauren stopped him with a shield. "Whoa." The guy said, dropping the bags he was carrying. We get in the truck and drive off. "What the hell!?" The guy says as he stands there in confusion.
We're driving down the road. Reed at the wheel, Kate in the passenger seat, me and Lauren by the windows in the back and Andy between us. I start to feel myself getting tired and my head gently falls over on to Andy's shoulder and I fall asleep. He looks down at me and blushes a bit.
Andy's P.O.V
I feel someone lay their head on my shoulder. I look down and see Cortney fast asleep. I feel my face heat up a bit. She looks so peaceful. In all this crazy mess, peaceful is just what I need. I decide to let her sleep. Mom looks back at us and smiles. "We can get through this." She says in a comforting tone. Me and Lauren smile a bit and Cortney just lays there. I look down at her and smile. 'It'll be easier to get through this since I know I have her with me.' I think to myself. We continue to drive for a while longer.

Cortney's P.O.V
We made it to the wearhouse where we are supposed to meet this guy that Reed met who's going to help us. His name is Marcos. Sentinal Services find us and start chasing us. They sent out a robot thing (I forgot what they were called). It caught up to us. Andy tripped and fell to the ground. Marcos blasted the robot and hurriedly helped Andy up. We get to a safe point and Clarice makes a portal. We all quickly run through except Reed. "DAD!" Andy and Lauren shout as the portal closes and Reed gets shot by a Sentinal Services officer.
The portal closes and Clarice gets really weak and collapses onto the ground. John and Marcos pick her up and lay her on a bench. She starts breathing heavily and repeating "I need to leave." I look at Andy and can clearly see he's scared. You don't need be an empath to see how scared he is. "Hey, we need to get Our dad back!" Andy yells. I start getting panicked and start freaking g out a bit. I start breathing a bit faster but it's hard to tell. "Look kid, we can't do anything without Clarice. You'll just have to wait." Marcos says trying to keep everyone calm. I can feel everyone's stress, worry, fear and anxiety, it's seriously getting to me. I feel their thoughts rushing and crashing around in my head, it start hurting and I hold my head in my hands but look back up right after, pretending I'm ok. I reach out to Andy and gently grab his arm. He looks at me and my head just gets worse and worse. I feel tears start to well up in my eyes. "What's wrong?" He asks. "My head, it hurts really bad." I say as a few tears fall down my cheeks. He takes me away from the others towards the wall. "Hey, you can tell me what's wrong, I'm your best friend. Don't hide stuff from me." He says, putting a hand on my cheek. I sigh. "It's just, everyone's emotions are so strong, it's messing with my head. It hurts so bad I just want it to stop." I start sobbing softly.
Andy's P.O.V
She starts crying and I panic. She never really cries and when she does I almost never see her. But here she is right in front of me, what am I supposed to do? "Uh, i-it's ok, please don't cry." I panic and stutter as I try to calm her down. She tries to calm down but I can tell she's too stressed out and in so much pain that she can't. I look over at mom to see her trying to help Clarice. I take a deep breath. "Hey look at me, focus on me, it's going to be ok." I say in a calm voice. She takes deep breaths. She stops crying and calms down. "O-ok, I'm ok now. Thank you Andy." She says. I smile a bit, trying to giver her at least a bit more comfort. She smiles back. "We should get back over there." She said starting to walk back to the others. I follow her. I have never been more scared to see someone cry before.
Cortney's P.O.V
Me and Andy walk back to the others. We were sitting there, the adults trying to figure out something. Suddenly Clarice opens a portal and a truck is driving towards us from the other side. The portal closes and the bed of the truck is cut off and comes flying at us. Andy grabs me and John covers us. Me and Andy fall to the floor, him on top of me and John was blocking us from the truck hitting us, lucky it stopped before it hit him. When I open my eyes I see Andy's face right in front of mine. I can feel my face heat up. He gets off me apologizing a lot. "It's ok Andy." I say and he relaxes a bit. "You ok John?" I ask standing up. "Ya, I'm fine." He says. "Is everyone else ok?" He asks. Everyone says yes or something to confirm they're ok. I look at Andy and see a cut on his cheek. "How did that happen?" I ask pointing to the cut. "Oh, I guess something scratched me, but I'll be fine." Says trying not to make me worried. It didn't work. "Well just be careful, I don't want you to get hurt too bad." I say and he nods. "We have to move her." John says. Him and Marcos pick up Clarice and move her to a table. She tosses and turns a lot. A little while after moving her another portal opens to the same road, there are a few more people than last time. The portal doesn't close on it's own so Lauren steps forward and uses her shields to close it. Once the portal is closed Clarice stops and lays still. "What did you just do?" Marcos asks. "I don't know I just thought I could close the portal using my shields. I didn't know if it would work." She says. "Alright kids, I'll be back, I just need to get some medicine for Clarice. I'll be back soon." Kate says giving us all a hug. Her and Marcos leave. I sit on the ground beside Andy and we wait.
When they get back it's completely chaos. There were portals everywhere. Kate makes her way towards Clarice and John with the medicine. She gives her the medicine and the portals stop. They get her situated in a bed and let her rest. I sit outside on the stairs listening to music. Andy walks out and sits next to me. "What are you listening to?" He asks. I hand him and ear bud and play Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
He smiles. I smile and hum along to the song. We sit there for a while listening to music. When it started getting dark Kate came out and brought us in. We ate dinner then went to bed, wow this was a very eventful day.
