The glistening moonlight shone down on the dirt road making it easier for the girl to manoeuvre herself. The night was silent except for the occasional howling of stray dogs in the distance and the sound of a pair of heels digging in the dirt frantically.
Min was in a hurry to reach her destination. It was already past her curfew and she had heard a little too much of horror stories to not be scared.
She considered herself as a strong girl, even though as of now her heart was frantically beating in her chest as if trying to run away. What made her strong in her mind was the fact that she was athletically fit and healthy. She had been taking martial arts lesson for far too long and she knew some killer moves here and there.
Min was, however, not so much brave when it came to darkness. She enjoyed the darkness of her room but otherwise it was hard for her not to imagine about all the hideous creatures lurking in the corners where the light didn't shine.
As she rushed down the road in a hurry she tried to keep her mind occupied. Thinking always relaxed her as body always went to a trance like state while forgetting everything around it.
Min was a serious girl, she liked to think deeply about things that she had never heard her friends talk about. It was one of the reason why she never felt close enough with them. She always thought they didn't understand her which was kind of true considering the fact that they didn't even know what she was talking about most of the time.
She had the habit to easily get addicted to the things she found interesting. Once she liked something she constantly tried to find out new things about it.
Just like how she got addicted to manga. The first time she had sat herself down to read a manga she found it a pain in the arse. The patterns of the pictures and the small words scribbled around the paper turned out to be overwhelming for her. But it was in her nature to enjoy things she found irritating. As she started getting used to the patterns, she also started liking it. It was unique, something that helped her to think without having to worry about her surrounding.
As she got addicted to it, she found it hard to keep down the books which she used to borrow from the library without telling her friends. She knew her friends would always judge her, so she would rather not have her addiction as the next topic of discussion. Manga gave her a sort of thrill. She liked the way her heart beat in her chest when the characters expressed their love to each other, she also liked how the writers kept secrets from her, urging her to read more untill her eyes were forced to close with the book placed on the top of her chest.
Even in her frantic rush towards her home in the darkness, she kept thinking about the story she had just started reading. It was a story about a boy with extraordinary power to stretch himself which he got from a fruit. The guy was keen on becoming the next pirate king in the world which was surrounded by large amount of water and extraordinary creatures.
Others found this manga childish. She had shared some of the story to her friends at college, who she thought were different from the childish friends she had in school. They had also found it childish that she was into such things, some even going as far as telling her to stop. But she didn't. She was in love with how the characters never gave up or how they always gained energy when it included their friends. The main character was the epitome of trust as he never went away, his friends trusted him to come back every time and make everything right. This type of friendship was something she longed for in her own life.
Her thoughts was abruptly cut short when she heard a pair of heels behind her. Her breath hitched a little as her heart began pounding even hard on her chest. Instead a new thought entered her mind.
