Chapter 5 - Madison and Jefferson wrote the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions in secret to show the Alien and Sedition Acts were unconstitutional, They wrote to each state
Chapter 7 - Seven states rejected the resolutions, three passed resolutions expressing disapproval, four didn't vote, and only 2 passed, Federalists passed it to break down the Democratic-Republican party, The resolutions were arguing that states have the right and duty to declare acts of Congress unconstitutional and nullify them. They also argued for states' rights and Democratic-Republican ideals
