Naomi's POV

"Did you notice that Kyle was following us the whole way here?" Amy giggles.

"Yes, he does everyday. I'm used to it by now," I say.

"Why am I just now hearing about this?" she hisses.

"I don't know, I didn't think is was important. I mean, we're only walking to class," I say.

"Well then," she laughs.

We grab our instruments out of our lockers. An alto saxophone for me, and a flute for Amy. We grab our folders and walk out of the storage room to or sections.

"Hello beautiful people!" Shawn yells as he enters the room.

"Don't you have gym this period?" Amy asks as he approaches her.

"Yes, but I didn't see you in the hallway," he says.

"You're going to get in trouble," she giggles as he pulls her into a tight hug.

"Worth it," he laughs as he kisses her gently. "I asked to see Miss Albery about band. Mr. Mack allowed me to leave. You're just a plus."

"Well then, get your job done. You can't afford detention," she smiles as she pushes him away.

"Yeah, I know. I just can't contain myself around you. I'm crazy!" he says as he walks up the stairs into Miss Albery's office.

"I wish I had something like you two," I say.

"Kyle will take his head out of his butt soon enough. You just have to be patient," she replies.

"I think my sax loves me more than I do," I laugh.

"Yeah ok," Amy laughs with me.

I sit in my chair and get my music ready. Then the "pride and joy" of the band walks through the threshold.

"OK, I'm here we can start now," she smiles as her two little workers get everything she needs.

Her name, Stacy Coil. Cheerleader, and clarinet player. Snobbiest little jerk in girl world. Of course, the guys think otherwise. She is so sweet to them, just because she wants all of them at the same time. And I don't just mean as boyfriends.

"Alright, heading back to gym, I love you beats," Shawn says as he lifts Amy up, puts her down and kisses her.

"Love you too, see you later bari," Amy calls after him.

"Ew, the grossness of your relationship makes me sick," Stacy says.

"You're just jealous because Shawn doesn't give you the time of day," Amy answers.

"You wont be saying that at the end of football season," she laughs.

"Yeah, OK," I mock.

"It's not like you have much to say. When was he last time you had a boyfriend?" Stacy says.

"Um, like 5th grade, but I dont care, I don't need one. I like to do my own thing," I reply.

"Yeah because you're so ugly and boring," Stacy mumbles.

"What was that? Are you too afraid to say it to my face you have to mumble and turn away?" I say.

"I-I, no," she stutters.

"That's what I thought," I say.

Kyle's POV

I walk into gym class with Shawn by my side. He is one of the nicest guys on the football team. And one of the strongest. Shawn is a beast.

"Oh crap," he says.

"What," I question.

"I forgot, I need to ask Miss Albery if there is anything I need to worry about for the storage truck. Since I'll be riding the football bus to the game," he answers.

He walks up to the gym teacher and asks if he can go to the band room. Mr. Mack agrees. He walks out and smiles at me, we both know what else he is going to do when he goes to the band room.

I change into my gym clothes and go out to the gym.

"Today we will be playing dodge ball," Mr. Mack booms. "The rules are,-"

I know the rules all too well, this game is my jam. I take out the people that don't try, then the people that try too hard. For example, the football boys. My friends, and my enemies. Shawn walks back into the gym. He changes and joins the other team.

"Shawn! I thought we were buddies!" I yell.

"Well, maybe you need a hit to the face, " he laughs.

I laugh along with him as balls fly all around us. I duck as Shawn sends one flying straight for my face.

"He wasn't joking," I think to myself.

I send one at equal strength back at his legs. He jumps over it with ease. He picks up a ball that landed right next to his foot and wails it at the guy next to me; knocking him down on the floor.

"Shawn! Take it easy!" Mr. Mack yells.

"Sorry! Guess I don't know my own strength," he laughs and puts his hand behind his head. He turns toward me and I see a glint of mischievousness in his eyes.

"I see your face! Don't even think about it!" I yell at him.

"Darn. Thought I could surprise you!" he laughs again.

"Alright boys, 5 minutes left of class. head on into the locker room and change up," Mr. Mack says.

I meet up with Shawn as we walk into the locker room. He wraps his arm around my shoulders and pulls me down do is side and ruffles my hair. I slide away from him and chase him through the hall of the locker room. We both laugh as he runs straight into the corner of the wall.

"So, what do you want to know about the band?" he asks me.

"What?" I reply.

"You asked me earlier what it was like in there. I can tell you anything... Within reason," he laughs.

"Uh, can we talk about it when there aren't as many arrogant jerks around?" I ask.

"Sure, on the bus today on the way to the game. Don't worry about them. I'll take care of it," he says.

"O-oh OK. I just want to know more about Naomi," I say.

"Why don't you just ask her out?" Shawn asks.

"Because I'm pretty certain she doesn't want anything to do with me," I say as I put my head down. Shawn starts to laugh and pushes me out of the locker room. "What are you doing? Where are you taking me?" I yell frantically as he continues to push me down the hallway.

"You are confronting this upfront. No more hiding from your feelings man. Forget what everyone else says about her and go with your gut. Band girls are way better and more fun than those stuck up cheerleaders. You just have to experience that for yourself," he stops right in front of the band room. "Take a step of faith. I'll be right behind you."
