Jessica POV

I was ready and waiting for Ethan by 5:45. I decided to wear a deep blue polo, jeans, and studded combat boots. I curled my hair for the occasion and pulled it into a side ponytail so that it fell over my shoulder. I touched up my makeup, and sat on the couch, checking and rechecking the clock on my phone until finally there was a knock on the door at 6:03.

I opened the door, finding a smiling Ethan in a white button down shirt. "Ready?" he asked, his eyes very bright in the evening sunlight.

"Yeah." We made our way to his truck. "So where are we going?"

"Well I figured we could go to the arcade. Skeeball, laser tag, sounds fun, yeah?"

"Yeah, sounds great." I found myself smiling as we drove down the road. My palms sweated and my head thrummed with new possibilities.

We stayed at the arcade until about 9, and then we turned in our tickets for prizes. Ethan dominated the basketball game, but we still didn't have enough tickets for a stuffed animal like the guy always wins the girl in the movies, so we got some sequined glasses and animal printed hats instead.

When we got back to my house, Ethan walked me up to the door.

"So," he said, somehow still looking absolutely adorable in that ridiculous hat. "Am I allowed to kiss you yet?"

"I don't think so." I smiled down at the ground. When I looked back up, Ethan kissed my cheek quickly.

"Alright then. See you Monday?"

"Yeah, Monday." I walked inside, feeling inexplicably happy.
