I walked down the hall to the cupboard under the stairs. It was the same cupboard that I had shared with my twin Harry for almost eleven years. The Dursleys were always watching us, as if trying to find something wrong with us. We hated living here, but where else could we go?

"Marissa, make us breakfast and try not to burn it like last time!" Aunt Petunia spat at me. Why did she always interrupt my napping schedule?

"Last time was on purpose," l muttered so she couldn't hear me, but Harry snickered. Uncle Vernon who was clearly unhappy about the giggling told Harry to go fetch the mail.

I noticed that it took him longer than usual so I went to help him. "We have letters!" Harry whispered.

"If we let the Dursleys see them they will take them away! You should put them in our cupboard." I tried to reason with him, but he was bent on bringing his to the table. "Well I'm putting mine away, be careful."

My letter was slipped in the cupboard as we headed back.

" Marissa! You burnt the bacon again!"

"Oops" I said sarcastically.

Before Aunt Petunia could get at me Dudley started yelling,"Harry's got a letter! Father, Harry's got a letter!" "That's nonsense Dudley, who would send Harry a letter?" With that said, Uncle Vernon snatched the letter from Harry with his fat fingers. He looked at the address; to Harry Potter

Little Whinging; and called Aunt Petunia over. My uncle turned over the letter and was shocked. I had to hold back laughter because of how ridiculous their faces looked. They got up and... threw it into the fireplace?! What's their problem, it's only a letter?

"Marissa, Harry, go back to your cupboard. Duddie Kins, go up to your room."

"But-" Dudley started to protest.

"Now!"

When we were back in the cupboard l looked at Harry, "I told you this would happen, but let's read my letter."

"I can only guess that your letter was about Hogwarts too, it would make sense. Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon are always careful around us, maybe they think we'll do something to them or spontaneously combust."I reasoned.

"How are you talking about spontaneous combustion at a time like this, we're wizards!"Harry excaimed.

"Technically I'm a witch." At my last remark Harry rolled his eyes.

"You should really get some sleep, staying up all night is not good."Harry tried.

"You really think that you can change the subject like that? And I would be fine if Aunt Petunia didn't interrupt my nap schedule all the time." I argued.

"Rest now then, l don't think they'll let us out anytime soon."

I yawned and nodded my head. After that I blanked out.
