Olivia let out an exhausted sigh as she slumped down into her white, fuzzy bean bag chair that sat in the corner of her crowded dormitory. It provided the coziest nook for her to relax and read her novels. She could spend hours in that one spot if she didn't have to go to her classes. It was initially meant to provide a private area for her collegiate studies, considering the fact that she could hardly bare the human interaction of a crowded library.
She looked between her Calculus book and her most recent novel, and, without hesitation, reached for her saucy romance book. As soon as she turned to the first page, there was an angry and frantic knock at her door. She groaned, already knowing that it was her roommate- well, ex-roommate- who had come to collect the rest of her items.
"It's all there, Maggie." Olivia nodded her head towards a messy pile of belongings that she had already gathered for the girl.
"Uh... thanks." Maggie mumbled in a nervous tone as she quickly entered the room, piling her stuff into a bin.
Olivia heard the fear. She didn't hear it in the girls voice or see it in the expression of her face. She heard it like a whisper in her ear, What a freak. Instead of letting the hurtful comment affect her, Olivia decided to make light of the situation. She looked the girl in her eyes with a deadpan expression.
"I really do hate to see you go, Maggie..." She smiled dryly.
"Uh, y-yeah, I think I've got everything," Her southern accent was thicker than ever as she stuttered out her reply, Freak.
"Your boyfriend's cheating on you," Olivia looked down at her book and flipped a page before looking back up at the girl, eye narrowed. "But i suppose it doesn't matter since you're cheating on him as well?"
Maggie stumbled backwards towards the door, pure shock written all over her face. Her mouth was open, but no words seemed to be coming out. Her thoughts were completely silent as well.
"Merry Christmas, Maggie," Olivia said in the most cheerful tone she could muster before erupting into a fit of laughter as the door slammed shut behind the baffled ex-roommate.
