So, I am a French Horn player in my band, but I can play multiple wind instruments. I cannot, however, play percussion.

1 . . . 2 . . . 1 2 READY PLAY

It was district festival in my state and it was time for my band to sightread.

But, instead of having me play my normal instrument my director tells me to go back to auxiliary percussion and play there.

"Mr. L, are you sure this is a good idea?" I ask.

"Mr. L, I don't think you should put her on that part." PG (section leader) says.

"She can't even play percussion." MB argues, throwing her sticks down.

Mr. L tilts his head and thinks about it. He comes to a conclusion. "Alright, who here thinks MJ should not play percussion?c

The entire band raises their hands.

"I guess that's settled. My apologies. Go play your horn." Mr. L motions me back over to my spot.

"Thank the Lord," I hear MB say.

I go back to my seat. We sight read and get a 1.
