In A Land Of Myth, And A Time Of Magic

The dream starts with Merlin telling a story to Gwen after the end of the series. It was how he was a very well respected Magic Advisor in a kingdom from another relm. (Obviously this didn't happen, but in my dream it did).

He tells her how he was falsely accused of poisoning a royal guest with meat from a lion cub. He was thrown into the same cage as the lions whose cubs had been taken away.

Before the big cats had a chance to attack him, he crawled through the shafts and escaped. He was then chased by the guards of his kingdom and of the guest's kingdom. He ran until he reached the rift between Arthur's relm and his kingdom's relm.

That's how he ended up a servent of a great and future king and why he had hidden his magic from Arthur and everybody else. It was how ended up leaving his home, friends, and family without being able to say goodbye.

Gwen makes him Royal Advisor (his magic still hidden from the land) and everybody trusts him.

Merlin lives happily ever after.
