"The mind replays what the heart can't delete."- ?
Sam, still on the couch, was watching the morning news, more staring at the tv than actually watching. He looked up to see a very tired Jace walk from his bedroom to the bathroom. "Great." Sam got off the couch and got a glass of water, giving it to Jace when he was done throwing up and came out of the bathroom.
"Thanks." His voice was hoarse and quiet. He took the glass and took a long drink. "Where are we?"
"At my apartment. I figured you wouldn't know how to deal with your hangover, so I brought you here. Sam walked back to the couch, motioning for Jace to follow him. "Are you still tired? You can take a nap here if you want." He patted the spot next to him and Jace sat down.
"Thanks." Jace pulled a blanket over himself. He got himself settled and closed his eyes, leaning on Sam. "Sorry if I'm bothering you, I'm really tired."
"No, it's fine." Sam was obviously kind of nervous, but let Jace lean on him anyway. Jace quickly fell asleep and Sam's mind wouldn't shut up.
He's leaning on you! Don't freak out! Is this weird? Is it weirder for me or him? Is this normal? Why am I worrying about this? People don't normally do this, right? This is going to be a long day.
~~~~~Time Skip~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jace woke up a little later, about 11:30.
"Morning princess, you hungry?" Sam walked into the kitchen and pulled out all things that would make grilled cheese sandwiches, plus some bacon. Sam got into a cabinet and pulled out a bottle of painkillers. "Here, take these painkillers while I make us breakfast." Sam handed Jace a glass of water and the pills.
"Grilled cheese for breakfast? That's a little weird." Jace put the pills in his mouth and took a drink for his glass.
"You don't know how heavenly grilled cheese tastes when you're hungover. And, if you put bacon in it, it's just amazing. And, besides, you need to eat something. There's no telling if you ate last night." Sam stated, sounding more like a mom than a friend.
"Okay, mom. Now, shut up and cook." Jace snapped at Sam, jokingly.
"So what happened to you last night. You disappeared as soon as we got there and I didn't find you until two and a half hours later." Sam started making the sandwiches, looking up at Jace every once in a while.
"I know I talked to a few people, drank a little, danced a little, drank again, and continued drinking and talking until...some time. That's all I remember." Jace tried to think about the events of last night.
Sam put a grilled cheese on a plate and set it in front of Jace.
"You don't remember coming back here and...doing stuff." Sam got nervous, looking at the floor instead of Jace.
Jace, with his mouth full, asked,"What kind of stuff? Did I do something stupid? Please, tell me what I did!" Jace hid his face, already getting embarrassed.
"It wasn't really stupid, to me. It's just...you kinda...kissed me when you were drunk. Again, I didn't think it was stupid, but now I'm questioning myself." Sam started fidgeting, trying to keep his eyes away from Jace's face.
"Are you serious?" Jace's face turned a deep red.
"If I was joking, I wouldn't be fidgeting." Sam looked Jace in the eyes. Jace was on the verge of crying. "Please, don't cry! It's okay!"
"No, it's not! I made you uncomfortable! I'm such an idiot. I should get going. I'll see you on Monday. Bye, Sam." Jace, with tears streaming down his face, rushed out of Sam's apartment.
"Jace! You don't have your clothes or phone! You don't have a way to get home either!" Sam yelled down the hall but was too late. Jace was already in the stairwell, self-distracting because of one little mistake.
