"Apologies don't mean anything if you keep doing what you're sorry for."- ?

The day continued to drag on. Sam had just finished a pile a paperwork and Jace was in a phone conference.

Sam was walking around, stretching, before deciding to stop by Jace's office. He reached Jace's door and quickly knocked before pushing the door open.

"Need anything?" Sam asked as he stepped into Jace's office.

Jace held up his pointer finger, telling Sam to wait a minute.

"Thanks, Mr. Dayton. I'll get those files sent to you sometime within the next few days. Have a nice day. Thanks, bye." Jace hung up the phone and leaned back in his chair. "Food sounds good." He sat up and checked the time on his cell phone. "1:26. Let's go get lunch." Jace stood up and grabbed his jacket.

"Alright, let's go. You're paying this time." Sam smiled.

"I know. You don't have to remind me." Jace scoffed.

~~~~~Time Skip~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sam and Jace came back to the office around 1:45. The office has become quiet, as most were taking a lunch break or working alone in their office.
"Thanks for lunch. I'll pay next time." Sam smiled. Jace and Sam walked back to Jace's office together.
Jace's phone vibrated on his desk. "Guess I left my phone here." He picked up his phone and checked the notifications.
(4) Missed Calls From: Nicole
(10) New Messages From: Nicole
Jace put his phone back on his desk.
"What's wrong?" Sam cocked his head to the side.
"Nicole. She's blowing up my phone. Probably trying to apologize." Jace sighed and placed his hand on his forehead.
"Hey, relax. Here, let me help." Sam walked around Jace and placed his hands on Jace's shoulders and began to massage them. "You're so tense. You need to loosen up."
Jace melted into Sam's touch, his stress slowly starting to fade away.
"Don't worry about her. She's just causing so much stress in your life. Just relax." Sam mumbled into Jace's ear. Jace shivered slightly as he felt Sam's breath on the back of his neck.
"What the hell is going on here!?" Nicole yelled from the doorway.
Jace pulled away from Sam and looked Nicole straight in the face. "Nothing, nothing is happening here! What are you doing here?"
"I was going to apologize, but apparently I cause you a lot of stress. So, I'm just going to leave." Nicole turned and started walking to the lobby.
"Nicole, wait! Can we talk about this?" Jace called after her.
"Why don't you talk to your boy toy about it?" She stopped in her tracks.
"Can we please talk about this in my office?" Jace grabbed Nicole's hand and pulled her into his office.
Sam had already walked out of Jace's office and was sitting in his own. "This can't be good." He mumbled under his breath.
~~~~~Time Skip~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ten minutes later, and Jace's door opened. Out stepped Nicole, makeup smeared on her cheeks, tear stains near her jaw, and bloodshot eyes.

Jace stepped out behind her, his hair a mess along with his clothes, and tears rolling down his cheeks.

"Hope you're happy with your decision, bastard," Nicole said before slapping Jace on the cheek.

"You too. Hope you're happy with your decision to ruin my life. Hope you ruin yours with the same decision." Nicole said to Sam before storming out of the office.

"What was that about?" Sam said from his seat, behind his desk.

"I broke up with her," Jace said with a frown on his face. "I don't know if I should feel sad or feel free."

"Feel however you want. You did what you had to." Sam smiled at Jace before Jace went back in his office, closing the door behind him.
