"You don't have to see the whole staircase just to take the first step."- Martin Luther King

"Jace, wake up! We're at the hotel." Sam slapped Jace's thigh, causing him to jump up in his seat.

"Did you have to slap me?" Jace's voice was groggy and sounded like he had been asleep for a while when he had only been asleep for 10 minutes.

"No, but I thought it would be funny." Sam parked and got out of the rental car. "Go check us in. I'll get the bags."

Jace got out of the car and walked into the lobby of the hotel. He approached the desk and waited patiently for a worker to assist him.

"Hello, sir. Can I help you with something?" A boy about Jace's age came from a room behind the desk.

"I'd like to check in, please. It should be under Simions or Adams." Jace tapped his fingers on the desk while the other boy typed in both last names.

"Sam Adams?" The boy questioned.

"Yes. That's it."

"Room 306. If you need anything else, just call or come down here. I'll help you in any way I can." The boy smiled at Jace and handed him the room key.

Jace returned the smile, grabbed the key, and turned to go help Sam with the bags, but that wasn't going to happen. Sam came in a few moments later, carrying all the bags. "I could have helped you, you know."

"I know. But, too late now." Sam smirked at Jace and walked towards the elevator, Jace following behind him. They stepped in and the doors closed almost instantly. Jace pushed the button to go to the third floor.

They got out when the elevator stopped. Sam walked down the hallway one way while Jace went the other way. "It's this way, Sam," Jace called to Sam, who was at the other end of the hallway.

Sam walked to Jace and waited for him to open the door. They walked in and turned on the lights, reviling the layout of the room.

The bathroom was right next to the door, a tv stood on a dresser in the middle of the room, up against the wall, a desk on the other side, and one bed in the middle of the room, against the other wall, and a window on the left room wall. Wait...one bed?

"This can't be our room. We should have two beds." Jace was shaking his head in disagreement.

"It is our room. This was the last room available. Sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I knew you would freak out about it." Sam put the bags down and dug out his sweatpants and a loose shirt.

Jace was getting very flustered. "You could have gotten a different hotel, so we wouldn't have to share a bed."

"Stop complaining. I said I was sorry. Just don't think about it. It's not like you haven't shared a bed with someone before. You have, haven't you?" Sam cocked his head to the side.

"No, I haven't. But, this is still weird!" Jace sat on the bed, his face getting redder by the second.

"Why is it weird?" He asked before he walked into the bathroom.

"Because I kissed you! You don't share a bed with someone that you didn't mean to kiss! It's just awkward..." Jace's voice trailed off.

"It shouldn't be awkward. We talked about it on the way here. Just stop complaining. All this arguing is making me tired." Sam yawned as he walked out of the bathroom. He laid down on the bed and made himself comfortable. "Come here. Take a nap."

Jace hesitated before getting under the blankets and trying to make himself comfortable.

"Next to you? That's so weird!" Jace said, trying to get the pink tint to his cheeks under control.

"I don't see what the problem is." Sam sighed.

"Because you've probably slept with someone before. I haven't." Jace huffed in response.

"Well, come here and I can show you how non-weird it is," Sam said in a stern voice, not wanting to argue with Jace anymore.

Jace huffed and finally got under the blankets. "This is still weird."

"Shut up and take a nap, you dork." Sam laughed lowly before he fell asleep.

This is going to be a long few days.
