"Ok, we need to get you two to the hospital. Just to check up on everything. Also, I think you would like to see how your husband is doing." a paramedic spoke, making me reopen my eyes once again.
We have been siting on the back of the ambulance for about 10 minutes. Mrs. Caniff had to put the air mask back on because she was having breathing problems. Taylor continued holding his mask to his face with one hand, while the other rest against my cheek, rubbing it with his thumb.
A paramedic helped Mrs. Caniff up further into the ambulance, sitting on a bench. I lifted my head from Taylor's lap. A male paramedic helped Taylor up. He had trouble, his body weak. Two paramedics climbed in, ready to leave and go to the hospital.
They closed the doors, turning on the engine. I walked out if the way, onto the side walk so they could leave. But they never did.
The doors opened once again. What?
"Marie Moore?" a paramedic asked out of the back. I looked up.
"Yes?"
"Taylor would like you to ride with him. Are you family?" he asked.
"U-um. Yes. I'm his sister." I stutter, obviously lying.
He laughed, "No your not! You his girlfriend. He told me, get in here. I'll let this one slide." he smiled. I smiled up at him, rushing to get in. I put my right foot on the edge, grabbing the man's hand, getting pulled up.
The small space was covered in medical tools with two long benches on the sides for paramedics and family to sit on.
I saw Taylor and his mom sitting on the benches. I rushed to Taylor, who still had the air mask on. I sat down by him, feeling the ambulance start moving.
The paramedics checked up on Taylor and his mom. After they finish and we neared the hospital, Taylor's warm hand intertwined with mine. I smiled, watching our hands. I looked at Taylor, who was smiling in the air mask.
Once at the hospital, the paramedics helped Taylor and his mom out of the ambulance and into the hospital. I walked to the waiting room, sitting in one of the uncomfortable hospital chairs.
I hate hospitals. They remind me of bad memories.
I sat there, staring at the ceiling, counting the tiles 42 times when a doctor came out.
"Marie, Marie Moore?" he asked. He was tall, with light bleach blonde hair. He had brown eyes, and pale skin.
I stood up, walking over to him.
"Hello, Ms. Moore. So I hear you are hear to with Taylor Caniff and his parents. With Mrs. Caniff, her breathing patterns are slowly, but surely returning to normal. Taylor, who I assume is your boyfriend, isn't do as good as his mom. His breathing is going to go back to normal. But, right now, he is just having some difficulties. He should be better by tomorrow. Now about Mr. Caniff. He is now suffering from asphyxia. Asphyxia is condition when a body has little to know air, making blood flow stop. It can cause people to pass out and sometimes die." he spoke, quieting towards the end.
I gasp. Oh no. Taylor is going to be devastated. And so will Mrs. Caniff...
"But, Mr. Caniff is doing well. Right now, his brain has somehow put Mr. Caniff in a coma. But he has been extremely strong. We don't know how long he will be in this coma, it could be hours, days, weeks, months, and even years." he said.
I nodded, tears gathering in my eyes.
"Also, Taylor would like to see you. He has already been informed, along with his mother."
I nod again, watching as the doctor turned walking away. I rushed after him, ready to see Taylor.
We walked down a few hallways, past the cafeteria. We finally got to Taylor's room.
"I will see you later." the doctor smiled, walking away.
I turned to the door, slowly opening it. Taylor laid in bed with a face mask covering his mouth and nose. He also had his phone out, texting.
I walked in slowly, Taylor still not noticing my presence. I crawled up the bed, crawling into the shape of his body, spooning him.
"Hey, babe." I whispered.
"Hi." he said, locking his phone. His voice was muffled, due to the mask.
"How are you feeling?" I ask, making circle patterns on Taylor's hip, where my hand laid.
"Fine. Im just a little upset that's all." he hummed, closing his eyes.
"About your dad?"
He nodded, opening his eyes. They were full of tears.
"I don't want him to be stuck in a coma. I need him with m-me." he stuttered trying not to cry. I looked at him, watching as his bottom lip quivered. It was hurting me to see him hurting like this.
"Baby, let it all out. It's going to hurt more if you don't." I whisper, hugging him tightly. He responded by wrapping his arms around my neck, snuggling into my neck. I could feel him start crying, the regular sob turning into him shaking in tears.
He quickly got tired, his body running out of tears. He quickly fell asleep, still wrapped in my neck. I too fell asleep after a few minutes.
