Chapter 1

Mia, her mother, and her grandmother were all sitting on the couch waiting for the telenovela to start, when Jane burst through the door.

     "Ay, ay! At least turn it down." Jane exclaimed as she rush to sit with us.

     "I was letting you know that it was starting" Abuela said. "Now eat your grilled cheese"

     As Jane grabbed the plate, Mia stole half the sandwich and took a bite. She looked at Jane, who was giving her a death glare, with an innocent smile, "Sorry not sorry, I was hungry."

     " You're lucky I love you." Jane told her sister.

     Xiomara had started to say "Mom, they don't  have to watch if they doesn't want to—"

      Mia had interrupted her mother by saying "Of course we're watching, you guys got us hooked on these things."

     "But you should know, telenovelas
have completely ruined romance for me" Jane quickly adds. Both sisters receiving a look from the elder women.

     "Can everyone just be quite, its starting." Mia said focusing her attention to the spanish show in front of her.

      Xo stared at Jane and feeling her gaze Jane turned to look at her mother, "what?"

     "Nothing. Eat your grilled cheese."

Mia and Jane were putting their things into the lockers at the Marbella hotel where both sisters work. They were talking to their childhood friend, Lina, about Jane and Michael's relationship. "Maybe Michael's gonna propose, my sisters say guys get all cheesy before they propose."

"No way, we have a timeline, I don't
have my teaching certification yet, we only just merged our calendars" Jane countered

Mia decided to butt in "I mean would it really be that bad if he was going to propose, I mean you guys have been together for two years." Looking at Jane she added, "You've been dating two years and you haven't had sex. He might move up your timeline.

Before Jane could protest against what Mia had just said Lina was quick to say "You'd say yes, right? If he asked?"

All Jane did was nod. The girls share a smile, but before they can continue they heard a knock on the door and craned there heads in the direction of the door. "Everyone decent?" they heard a male voice say. Before anyone reply's he barged in.

"Who are you?" Lina asked the man

As the man walks through the room he has a handful of straws. "Roman Zazo but everyone calls me Zaz, I work for the management company that just bought the hotel. You could think of me as, say, your new boss -- pick a straw, please, pick one -- keeping in mind you have nothing to worry about as long as you're outstanding at your job -- A straw please." They all picked a straw and he was standing in front of Jane waiting for her to do the same. Jane takes one. "which benefits all of us, seeing as we all have the same goal here, that goal being to make bank-- okay, let's see those straws."

  Looking at the straws they got Everyone was holding a regular straw except Jane, who unluckily got the short straw. "What's your name?" Zaz asked.

"Jane."

"But everyone calls her Jaz." Mia quickly added causing the other girls to laugh.

Jane was now wearing a baiting suit with a tail serving drinks in the middle of a pool. While serving drinks, Mia had stopped a few times to talk and laugh at her sister.
