chapter eight - shopping
I was tying my shoelaces and had my phone wedged between my shoulder and my ear.
"Please, Sana, I really don't have a choice!"
"What do you mean, you have no choice?!"
"I put it off for as long as I could but I'm being forced to go! I need to take someone with me!" he whined.
I rolled my eyes and groaned.
"I can't talk about this on the phone. Meet me at the park in five."
"Done."

I jogged into the park in my running gear, looking out for Jimin. I saw him sitting on a swing, scrolling through his phone. His head shot up when I called his name.
"Come on, if you want to talk to me, we can do it while running."
I started off at a medium pace, and he matched my speed with ease.
"Why are you going running anyway?"
"Have you seen me? Look at all this weight I need to lose." I said, grabbing at the rolls in my stomach.
He stopped me and pulled me to the side.
"Who made you think that you need to lose weight?"
"I don't know, I just want to be prettier, I guess."
"You're beautiful to me."
I involuntarily blushed.
"Yah! Stop it!" I said with a flaming red face.
He shrugged. "It's the truth."
I shook my head and smiled.
"So, tell me about your oh-so-serious situation."
"Sana, please, please, please accompany me to this business party slash masquerade ball." the almost begging tone of his voice made me soften.
"And why would I do that?"
"Think about it, I ask you to keep my outburst a secret, and you ask me for my, by the way, expert help in seducing your best friend. Doesn't seem like a fair deal, does it? I'm doing way more for you than you're doing for me. Think of this as a even playing field once you help me, we won't owe each other anything."
I tilted my head up to the sky and scratched my chin like I was thinking, when in reality I had already made my decision before he had delivered his little speech.
Well, who wouldn't want to go to a ball with a extremely hot guy?
Shit, did I just say that out loud?
"You did," Jimin said, grimacing a little.
I gulped and tried to regain some of my dignity when I spoke again.
