All my life I've been the one to help people when they needed it.

My mom always says I put others before myself and sometimes that could be a good thing, but other times it brings trouble.

I remember one time in 3rd grade a girl in my class forgot her homework. She was sitting in the bathroom, crying when I found her. When I asked her what was wrong she told me she was going to get her third strike this week. In our class if we got three strikes the teacher called our parents and we had to sit out at recess.

I felt bad so I gave her my homework. I didn't have any strikes so it was no big deal for me. A few weeks after, I found out that the girl was abused at home and I felt like I did the right thing giving up my homework.

My freshman year I was invited to a senior party. Not many freshman got invited, so of course I went.

As the night came to an end things got crazier and the cops showed up. Some of the senior were doing drugs and the girl who threw the party was freaking out because her parents didn't know she did drugs.

Being the type of person I am, I tried to take the blame. The cops later found out I was covering for the girl and she got in huge trouble with her parents.

I sighed as I got shoved out of the way. I rolled my eyes at the rude man who didn't even bother apologizing.

I walked over to the bag pickup and grabbed my things. I almost dropped everything when my phone started going off in my back pocket . When I finally got my suitcases on the ground I pulled out my phone, answering it without looking at the ID.

"Hello?" There was a pause. "Avalanna? Have you landed yet?" My best friends dad, Charlie asked.

I nodded, but then remember he couldn't see me. "Yeah , I just picked up my bags."

I looked around for Charlie. His voice pulled my attention back to my phone.

"Well I'm parked right out front." I nodded again.

"Ok, give me a few minutes and I'll be out." He told me not to rush before hanging up.

I grabbed my four suitcases and headed outside. It took me a good six minutes since the airport was busy and everyone seemed to be rude in here.

"Ava! Looked at you. You've done grown up on me." Charlie said as soon as I stepped out of the doors. I giggled as I walked over to him.

I dropped my bags and walked into Charlie's open arms.

"Charlie I think you're the one getting older." I said, ruffling his hair that clearly held gray spots.

He chuckled and picked up my bags, putting them in the trunk of his sheriff car.

"So is she any better?" I asked as Charlie pulled out of the airport. He sighed and ran a hand down his face.

"She's been locked in her room for the past four months."

Charlie had called me a little after Bell's birthday to inform me about Edward and his family leaving.

I instantly knew Bella was talking it hard. Whenever I tried getting ahold of her she ignored all my messages, which she never does.

I've been best friends with Bella since we were one, when she moved to Phoenix. I met Charlie one time when he came to visit Bella. He stayed for a while and I soon found myself looking at him as another dad.

I lost my dad when I was eight to cancer. Me and my mom both had a hard time getting over it. My mom turned to drugs and drinking, so I was basically raising myself. If it wasn't for Bella and her mom and step-dad I wouldn't have made it.

My mom didn't care that I was moving up to Forks, not that I would listen to her if she said no.

Bella was never one to fall for guys but every since she met Edward she's been like a love sick puppy.

I only met Edward once and that was last year when Bella got hurt and was in the hospital.

I could tell he loved her by just watching the way they acted around each other. That's why I'm having trouble with this whole situation on his leaving.

There has to be more to the story and I was gonna find out.

"So she doesn't know I'm coming?" Charlie shook his head. "I thought she could use a good surprise." I nodded in agreement.

It was silent the rest of the drive and soon we pulled up front of the house. I smiled at Charlie before following him out of the car. We both grabbed two bags and headed inside.

"So I cleaned out the attic and you can decorate it how you like. Bells room is right next to the stairs that lead to your new room." I nodded and we took the bags up.

"Let's go see Bella." I followed him out of the attic and I leaned against the wall as Charlie knocked. When there was no response he walked in. I heard him talking and when I heard him say there was a surprise I walked into the room.

"Hey Is.
