This Should Be Good

Three weeks.

Three weeks is how long Jake has been ignoring me and Bella. It started Friday night after us three went to the movies and Mike Newton tagged along.

The night ended with Mike throwing up as I drove him home and Jake running off angry.

The next morning Bella called Jake's house and Billy answered with some excuse why Jake couldn't talk to us.

That continued for a week until we were told Jacob had mono and was too sick to do anything.

Bella was devastated without Jacob. She tried to hide it but I know my best friend. Plus she started having nightmares again and would wake up crying and screaming.

She hasn't really talked a lot over the past three weeks and I was getting worried her depression was coming back.

One day she went out for a walk and when she came back she was freaking out about huge wolves. The rest of that day she was jumpy and I was started to think she was going crazy.

I finally convinced her to go try seeing him and when she came back she was drenched from the rain. She ignored me when I asked and locked herself in her room.

I left her alone that night and then this morning she came storming downstairs and out the house, pulling me with her.

As soon as we got to Jacob's house Bella stormed up to the door. I walked behind her, playing with my necklace. She kept knocking until Billy opened.

"I need to see him." Billy sighed and shifted his eyes to me. "He's not in." Bella rolled her eyes.

"I'm sorry, I really need to see him." She apologized as she shoved past Billy and down the tiny hall.

I gave Billy a sorry look before following after my best friend.

She was frozen at Jacob's door staring at him as he slept. I was shocked to see all his hair gone.

Both me and Bells turned when we heard a wolf call come from outside. When Bella stormed out I sighed and followed after her.

"What did you do?" Bella shouted towards the four, shirtless guys. I rolled my eyes when I saw Embry.

"What did you do?" Bella asked again as she hit the biggest guy with her elbows. From the look of it, he was the leader of the group. My guess is that he is the Sam I've been dreading to meet. He looked unfazed by her shove and growled at her.

"What did we do? What did he do?" The hottest one asked. He licked his teeth and glared down at my best friend.

"What'd he tell you?" He stepped to Bella and I took that time to come forward and pull Bella behind me. "Everyone calm down." Sam said, putting his hand on the hot guy.

"Nothing. He tells me nothing because he's scared of you." Bella said trying to get around me. The boys all laughed and I almost reached up to slap one of them but Bella beat me to it.

I froze when the guy started shaking. "Paul calm down!" Sam said in a demanding voice.

"Girls back up." I slowly took a step back, keeping my eyes on Paul as his eyes stayed glued on Bella.

Paul growled and his body bent in a weird way before a wolf replaced where he once stood.

As the wolf took a step towards us, me and Bella both took off running.

"Bella! Avalanna!" Jacob yelled running from out of the house.

"Jake! Run!" Bella shouted. Jake ignored her and jumped over her, phasing into a wolf.

I fell to the ground beside Bella, frozen. My breathing stopped when the two wolves attacked each other. They rolled into the woods and Sam turned towards us.

"Get them back to Emily's." As he took off into the tree line Embry and the other guy came over.

Embry helped Bella up while the other helped me.

I was still frozen so the guy was basically carrying me. I didn't say anything as he placed me in the truck beside Bella.

Embry drove us to Emily's house. I was still in shock so I didn't say anything the whole way.

"I think we should go back and see if Jake's okay." Bella said from beside me.

I sighed before getting out from the drivers side and following Embry up the front porch.

"Come on in Bella, we don't bite." Embry laughed. "Speak for yourself." I rolled my eyes as the guy went inside the house.

Bella soon joined us. Embry paused before turning to look at us. "About Emily, don't stare. It bugs Sam."

"Why would we stare?" Bella asked. He ignored her and went inside. We soon followed after and both stood off to the side.

There was a girl standing in the kitchen with her back to us, "you guys hungry? Like I have to ask." She laughed as she turned around. She cleared her throat when she saw us.

As I got a better look at her I understood Embry's warning. She had three long scars running down her cheek, but she still looked beautiful.

"Who's this?" She smiled at us. "Bella Swan, who else." Bella blushed and shifted so she was more behind me. Emily grinned, "so you're the vampire girl?" I froze when Bella blushed again.

Vampires are real too? And Bella knows one?! What kind of world did I get myself into?

"I'm Avalanna." She smiled and set a plate of huge muffins down.

"Hungry?" I nodded and leaned forward to grab on when Embry and the other guy grabbed one for themselves.

"Leave it to Jacob to find a way around Sam's gag orders." Bella slowly came to the table and grabbed a muffin. "He didn't say anything to me or Ava."

"That's a wolf thing. Alpha's orders get obeyed whether you want them to or not." I sat down in a chair across from Embry. "Oh and check this out, we can hear each others thoughts."

The other guy slammed his muffin down. "Will you shut up? These are tribe secrets! Damn it. This chick runs with vampires." I shuddered at the word vampire.

"Can't really run with vampires. Cause they're fast." Bella answered causing Emily to laugh. I smiled at her.

"Oh really? Well we're faster. Freaked out yet?" Bella shook her head. "Your not the first monsters I've met."

"Well your the first I've met, so I'm pretty freaked." Embry laughed at me as the other guy smiled at me. He playfully growled at me.

"Jacob's right. You are good with weird." I turned and saw the leader guy walk into the house. He walked straight to Emily and pulled her into his arms. I blushed when they kissed.

Two more footsteps filled the room and I turned to see Paul and Jake. I smiled at Jacob, which he returned before turning to Bella.

Paul sat next to me and looked at Bella, "Sorry." He said with no emotions at all. Bella nodded and looked back to Jake. The two soon left and I was left with five eyes on me.
