Gemma was pacing which was highly unusual for her, but she couldn't get her out of her mind, she had a granddaughter, sure she already two grandkids sweet Abel and Thomas, but she had a granddaughter a girl for the first time, in a family full of sons family and the MC.

Sighing she looked at the piece of paper, decision already made in her mind she grabbed her keys and stormed out of the office and passed everyone else to her car, turning on the car she slammed on the accelerator and peeled out of the lot gaining confused faces from people around especially from her son and husband.

On the other side of town a one Penelope Hart was walking up and down the corridor outside the courtroom to ease her nerves before entering the room for her emancipation hearing. Snapping out of her daydream the door was pushed open as a women left the room,

"Miss Hart?" She asked, gaining a nod from the younger girl, "right, well it's time".

Taking a deep breath she entered the room that could determine her fate until she turned a legal adult. Walking into the courtroom she took in her surroundings before standing next to her case worker taking a deep breath as the judge began to talk,

"You're requesting emancipation and you have both your parents signatures releasing their parental rights?"

"Yes your honour but only my biological fathers as my mother passed away five years ago which I found out from public records"

The judge a non-committal hum "I see you turn 17 soon"

"Yes, and I'll be old enough to get emancipated, I can get my GED, get a job."

"And is this your caseworker here?" She said pointing to the woman next to Penny

"I am, Your Honor, I've only been with Penny a few months. She tends to change hands often"

The judge looks the caseworker over, "Well okay, I see that- well eight different foster homes."

"Well, that' s-that's not really my fault" Penny stammers

"And whose is it? Surely you're not saying it's the seven different families who tried to take you in" the judge responds giving a brief look to Penny

"Of course not your honor, mean, I wanted a good a home I did, but the state of California just didn't provide me with one"

"So as of today you have no permanent residence, no fixed income and four thousand dollars in your account"

"Well I'm hoping as soon as you sign of on this emancipation there's an apartment near my school available" penny responds with an nervous grin towards the judge
