"I'd cut my soul into a million different pieces just to form a constellation to light your way home. I'd write love poems to the parts of yourself you can't stand. I'd stand in the shadows of your heart and tell you I'm not afraid of your dark." - Andrea Gibson.

Yesterday seemed to be a dream. Images repeating in Amelia's head made her smile, she felt good. Really good for a long time.

Riinngg.

The doorbell rang and she rushed down to the open door that showed Matthew peeking in.

He was looking around and saw Amelia make her way towards him and smiled weakly up at her.

"Hey! I thought you'd be climbing up the tree and surprise me again through my window." She said beaming up at him.

She was greeted with not the same enthusiasm as his sad eyes met her happy ones.

"Amelia, I need to tell you something..." He said as he reached to place his hand on her shoulder.

"I'm leaving and might not come back..."

Amelia tried to comprehend what he was saying. The word 'leaving' trying to register in her mind but somehow eludes her.

"What do you mean leaving?" Somehow she didn't want it to sound angry but questions now circulating in her mind and that all to familiar anxiety and the feeling that she might have done something wrong was invading her thoughts. Her mind was searching through every memory she had on what she could have done to make him go away.

"Amelia. Breathe... It has nothing to do with you and I deeply enjoyed your company-"

"Then what is it?" she didn't mean for her voice to become higher but the thought that she was going to be left alone again with her thoughts and memories that plagued her in her dreams and in her reality scared her a little but now her mind is debating that it was okay for him to go because he is a good person and he has the free will to do so. He doesn't need this-- her mental instability and just an emotional wreck, in his life.

She can't help but to hold her head with both hands on either side of her head and closed her eyes tightly. She just wants to shut them out.

'Shut up, shut up, shut up... Please...'

Matthew was silent and felt sympathy for her. He moved nearer and tried to hug her but she briskly moved back when she felt his hand on her again.

"I just want to be with you. I'm happier, can't you see that? If you leave, I'm leaving with you! I-I love you..."

Matthew just smiled at her. His face gentle and his eyes said it all but he just stood still.

Her mom was wondering what was happening as she suddenly appeared through the door frame that led to their office where she would usually play her games.

"Tell her, Matthew! Tell her!" She said as she saw her mother.

Her mom stared at her with wide eyes while looking at where she was talking to then back at her as she inched towards her carefully.

"Eli... Who are you talking to?"

"To Matthew! Can't you see him?" She said hysterically, pointing to where Matthew was.

"There's no one there... Amelia?"

A sudden flood of emotions engulfed her as images taunted her sanity then everything blurred.

THUD.

*****

Amelia's eyes fluttered but she didn't open them, feeling the light bright behind her eyelids. She heard distant voices from her room and recognized it as it became clearer to hear.
