Ch. 7
Another show had ended and much of the crew and audience had gone. Still, there were the leftovers, including me, Lea, Lance, Patrick, and quite a few others. The dancers were showing off as I Will Never Let You Down by Rita Ora blasted and the majority of the leftovers danced on the stage for fun.
I started off by goofing around with Lea before a dancer tore me away and Lance swept Lea away. I danced with Mr. Rockette until he got a little too into the dancing and i had to trade partners with Lea, who didn't mind the dirty dancing quite as much as I did.
Practically just as I was saved by Lance, Patrick bumped him aside. Patrick was a little more wild and outgoing when he came to dancing. Luckily, he wasn't a terrible dancer so it wasn't too embarrassing. He got me laughing a lot. Then Lance managed to give Patrick a taste of his own medicine, stealing me back. Patrick's reaction expression was rather priceless, but he picked up his moves and moved on to another partner.
Half way through one of the songs, I noticed that many of the repair guys were still on duty, such as Dante. He was repairing a seat in around the tenth row closest to Lance and I towards the left end of the row.
Suddenly, Lance spun me as he began singing along to Ke$ha.
"You do better with Disney songs," I said, half joking but half honestly.
Lance laughed. "Oh, really? Good to know, but you know that's not going to stop me." Lance started singing again, but I interrupted him.
"What about the working crew people?" I asked.
"Random," Lance told me. "But, to answer your random question, they're doing they're job. I'm sure they go to dance clubs and parties in their free time."
"I know," I said. "I just feel bad."
Lance smiled brightly down at me. "Well, that's awfully nice of you."
Except it wasn't "awfully nice" of me. I did feel bad, but I also knew better than distracting people from their paying job. Still, I had to know more about Dante. Was he really creepy or was it a coincidence?
I rolled my eyes and playfully hit him. "Well, I kind of know that one so don't try and stop me." I stepped towards the edge of the stage closest in Dante's direction.
"Couldn't if I tried," Lance murmured with a small grin. He walked over to me as I sat down on the stage edge before slipping down to the ground. "The stairs are perfectly fine and are less of a risk of rolling your ankle!"
I shook my head at Lance, waving a hand at him. "Go back to dancing, Prince Philip." Lance quietly heeded my words, knowing I was too stubborn to listen to him, thus making it pointless to say more. I walked closer towards Dante. "Hey!"
"Hey," Dante grunted as he lay down on his back to look under the chair. "If you need something fixed-"
"Oh, no," I said. "Just figured you'd rather dance than screw some screws in a chair."
Dante looked at me with furrowed eyebrows, and I worried if he took something I said the wrong way.
"What?" I asked softly, not sure if I wanted to know the answer.
"Nothing," he said. "Just normally don't hear..." He cleared his throat. "Normally people don't ask me if I want to dance, that's all."
"Ah," I said. "So, do you?"
Dante stopped working on the chair. "Couldn't I get fired?"
"I'll say I threatened you, if that helps," I told him, half joking while the other half just hoped to God he didn't lose his job because of me if he did agree to dance.
