Ch. 26
Aesc no longer had a place to go. He no longer belonged to anyone. There was no one worth fighting for.
Kate was gone. She was...dead. Dead. He'd checked Hell's records-actually, had his servant do it-five times. He'd made sure the servant was lying by threatening to feed him to the hell hounds then by checking the records himself twice. Her soul had not entered Hell. Aesc hated that, but was also relieved by it. She wouldn't be near to him, she wouldn't be tortured. Kate was safe and halfway to Paradise...finally. Away from him, the Prince of Evil.
Faellan was gone. He had worked on regaining his wings, his grace, his name as an angel. Though viewed by the others as a bit unconventional, Faellan was given an angel statues, though a low one. He had been forgiven by God.
Lea was gone. She was off pursuing her dream job, off with her old college friends and some new friends, off making a life for herself. She'd taken up praying, though wasn't exactly dedicated to the cause. It was clear she missed Faellan, but as an angel, he was hands off. Though he loved her, it was no romantically. It was the love of an angel for a human.
Danielle was gone. Rebelling as usual. Aesc had ordered for the hunts to catch and/or kill her to be stopped. Once, a demon had tried to defy the prince. After seeing what happened to that demon, no other evil being stepped out of line since.
Ravus was gone. As Aesc had promised himself, her evil spirit was the first thing he dealt with. Under a human month, she felt regret and groveled at the prince's feet. But he felt no remorse, for once. The torture continued, and would continue endlessly.
Aesc sat in his throne with one leg lazily laying on the arm rest, and a golden crown with large diamonds embedded in on top of his black waves. His blue eyes smoldered ,as they would for the rest of his life.
They were large, evil, materialistic things, his throne and his crown;he hated them. But Hell needed a king, even with Satan as ruler. They wanted Aesc now, and he had returned. Returned for revenge.
Aesc never wanted to hurt anyone he cared for, but there was no longer any one he cared for in his life. So, he wanted to end it all. He was going to lead the evil, all right. Lead it all to their deaths, to the angels.
