Coin #3: A Dime

The man was old and frail. He walked slow and with the help of a cane. He looked quite upset. The man in the square had seen him many times before. But this was the first time he had seen the man without his wife. Where was she? Had she grown ill? Maybe she was having too hard a time walking? Was she in a home where someone could take better care of her? He hoped it wasn't the last option he was thinking. They are getting to bet quite maybe she had passed? He prayed it wasn't that. They had taken him to lunch a few times before and has grown to love the couple, they have so much love and admiration for all of the good things in the world. He watched as the man approached the fountain. With a defeated sight the man pulled a dime out and kissed it then threw it in with the thousands of others that lay at the bottom of the chipped marble pool.

"I'm sorry sir, your wife is too ill to go home. We will have to place her in an assisted living facility. If you would like, you can alsooo co-- th-e fac----" I started to drown out the man, I couldn't believe what was going on. How was I supposed to live without the love of my life? I don't want to live anywhere other than the home the two of us built when were young.

----------------------------------

"June? Honey? Are you alright in there?"

"I'm fine sweetheart. I'm just a little nervous." A smile spread across my face, we were finally going to live the rest of our lives together. We had built a lovely home just outside of town, it had a lot of open land, beautiful flowers and trees, even a pond. It would become the place I live the rest of my life, and I would spend it with the most important person, then people, of my life.

The gown she was wearing was absolutely stunning. She made her way to and I took her hands in my own.

"... You may now kiss the bride."

----------------------------------

"It's a Beautiful baby boy!" June had just given birth to our sixth and what would sadly be our last child. Just as the others were, he was a great child.

They all would grow to become very successful, all graduating college and marrying, having wonderful children of their own.

----------------------------------

"Sir?" I was shaken out of thought by a doctor. June had fallen at the nursing home, when I got the call I immediately rushed over to the E.R. They had told me she wasn't doing very well. "Your wife, June. She broke her hip and while we were trying to get her prepared to fix it she suffered a heart attack." The doctor sat next to me and placed her hand on my shoulder. "I'm so sorry sir. She didn't make it."

----------------------------------

"Just who I wanted to see!" I approached the Vet and shook is hand. "My family and I are going out for dinner, we want you to come with to we can celebrate the life of my beautiful June. Will you join us?"

"Of course. June was an amazing woman, I would love to share one last moment of her."
