Beep...Beep...Beep

Louis woke up Monday morning to the annoying sound of his alarm clock, hollering at him to wake up for school, He let out a groan and slapped a hand on top of the snooze button; the alarm clock was one of the old fashioned ones, his IPhone alarm was never loud enough to wake him up. He first found this out two years back when he woke up at noon, his alarm on the phone still blaring. The fault with the alarm clock made him late for school which gave his parents a reason to be angry with him.

Louis let his eyes flutter open slowly and then he rubbed them, putting his vision into focus. He layed there in his bed for a few moments and sighed, dreading going to school; but of course he had to get up and face the day as it was handed to him. So, Louis forced himself out of bed and to his closet for a change of clothes. He decided on a solid white t-shirt that was clung to his pectoral well; he left the black jumper that he pulled on unzipped and slipped on a pair of black skinny jeans. He slipped on a white pair of Toms and then left his room to brush his teeth and style his hair in the bathrom. A thin line of stubble had grown visible on Louis's jawline and upper lip but he didn't want to take the time to shave, so he left it, promising himself he would do it later. As for his hair, he also didn't feel like taking the time to do anything special to it so he let it fell into his normal, messy fringe; the end tips of his hair crept far down his neck and Louis knew he was in need of a haircut soon.

Walking into the kitchen after having brushed his teeth, Louis went downstairs and into the kitchen to eat breakfast before heading off to school. He grabbed an orange from the fruit bowl which was sat atop the kitchen table and sat down across from his step dad who was eating a bowl of cereal while reading the sports section of the local newspaper.

'Did you catch the footie game on the telly last night?' Louis's step dad, Dan, asked, not bothering to look up from the paper to engage in a proper conversation. Louis broke a slice of orange off and popped it into his mouth before slowly shaking his head. Some of the citric juice unexpectedly squirt Louis in the back of the throat which made him cough lightly. 'You'd better not be getting fucking sick. We have a match on Friday.' Dan warned, still not looking up from the newspaper. 'So, did you see the game or not?'

'No I was out with Zayn and Liam.' Louis commented, knowing that wasn't the answer that his step dad was looking for. His knowledge was correct because seconds later, Dan looked up from the newspaper to give Louis a dissaproving stare. Louis shrugged in defense and then stood up from the table to throw the orange peels away. 'It was their one year anniversary, they wanted me to go out to dinner with them.' Louis excused and then grabbed his bag which he slung over one shoulder.

'I've got it recorded on the telly so you can watch it after school today. You could learn a thing or two from the players. Your skills on Friday night were absolute rubbish. I expected more from you boy.' Dan scolded which just made Louis roll his eyes as he grabbed his longboard from the cupboard under the staircase. 'Oh, and work on your-' Dan's sentence was cut off when Louis left the house, slamming the door behind him before he could hear any more criticism from his step dad. Taking a deep breath to cool himself down first, Louis placed his neon green longboard on the paved sidewalk and began advancing towards the school.

Getting to the school only took Louis five minutes and when he arrived, Zayn and Liam were waiting for him on the large cement steps at the front of the school. Liam was sat upon the flat edge of the steps while Zayn stood in between Liam's legs, his back towards Liam's chest. He had a cigarette lit between his lips but he put it out when he saw Louis jog up the steps, his longboard in hand. Liam hopped down from the side of the steps and acknowledged Louis with a kind smile. Louis smiled back and then the three walked into the school where their ears were automatically filled with the familiar sound of teenage chatter and locker doors slamming closed.
