"Hey, are you ready?" my dad asked.
"Yeah." I responded as I zipped up my suite case.
"Good."
Alright." I whispered to myself as I grabbed my stuff. I followed Dad down the stairs and met my step mom, Rebecca, in the living room.
"Are you excited?" she asked
"Oh yeah. I can't wait to see everyone again." I realized as I said that I'm super excited to see one person. I mean don't get me wrong, I am happy to see the rest of my family and friends. But there is one person I'm exceedingly excited to see. Rhys Williams. I've been crushing on him since I first saw his channel about 3 years ago. Of course I went over the moon when I met him a year ago. I never thought I meet him, let alone become friends with him. One of the perks of having MatPat as a brother. Well half brother anyway. The only problem is that Rhys will never look at me as more than a friend.
"Earth to Vera." Dad said.
"Huh." I responded coming back to reality.
"I've been trying to your attention for about 5 minutes. We're ready to go."
"Oh good." I walked out the front door and hoped into the backseat of the car. I reflection on how much my life has change since my dad found me over a year ago. It's strange how much your life changes when when comes in your life. One moment I'm living with my grandparents and the next I have a whole new family. I decide to move in with my dad after months of getting to know him. I felt I missed out on so much.
After several hours of being in the car, we finally stopped at a place to eat.
"Yay. Food." I said as I hopped out the car. I followed my parents into a diner. We seated ourselves and quickly looked through the menus. Our waitress walked over and took our orders.
"So what's your plan, Vera?" Dad asked.
"I don't know. I just can't wait to get to LA and see everyone." I responded.
"He meant for your future." Rebecca said.
"Oh... Um.. I'm not sure. I mean I do plan on going back to college, I'm just trying to figure out what I want to be." I did two years of community college in Tennessee, where I'm from. It wasn't long after that, my life was flipped up side down. I'm still trying to adjust living in Medina, Ohio. Sometimes I wake up, thinking that I'm still on Signal Mountain. Then I wake up completely and I remember where I really am.
"Okay. No pressure." Rebecca smiled. Yeah sure. No pressure. I mean it's not like people don't give me weird looks when I say I'm just taking some time off from college. Including my brother. But hey it's my life. And it's not like I'm never going back. I just want to figure myself out. I mean wouldn't you, if what you'd thought you knew everything about your life is a lie. Not to mention I'm only 21 years old, so it's not like I have to have everything figured out at this very moment. Right as I thought this, our waitress brought us our food. While we ate quietly, I sat there and thought about my more closer future. I don't want this vacation turn into some kind of scheme to get the man of my dreams when it's just a reunion. But if I do get Rhys, excellent and if I don't then fine. It won't be the end of the world, just my heart for a little while. After we ate, dad paid the bill and we got back in the car. It was about an hour or so into the journey when I started texting people, giving them an update.
'Great'Ryan
'It be good to see you' Baz
'can't wait' Lewis
'hurry' Steph and my favorite 'I can't wait to see you' Rhys. Of course Matthew won't text reply right away. It takes him a few days to respond to text message. Two hours later, we finally made it to Matthew and Stephane's house.
