Spectrobes: Earthborn (Female Hero, OC)

Chapter 1

Raven's P.O.V.

   I glance out the bus window, watching the scenery pass by. My Outdoors class decides to take a field trip to the Qu' Apelle Valley, just Northeast of Regina--my hometown.

   It's a sight, to see the flat prairies melt into the rolling hills of the Valley. Our destination is Lebrett, a small town west of Ketepewa Beach--which is a little peninsula that juts into the lake. Actually, we've just arrived in said small town. We've been in the Valley for a while. 

   "Okay, class! We're going to be climbing this hill, as it is a historical area of this town." the teacher calls as we pile off the bus. I look up at the hill. Twelve crosses line the path up the hill, with a church about two thirds of the way up. 

   "Bo-o-o-o-ring!" someone shouts, and the class calls out their agreement. 

   "Jeez, don't ruin it." I mutter, and start up the hill.

   Something glints in the sky, and I look up just in time to see an object crash into the ground. When the smoke clears, it is clear that it is a ship. 

   "Cool." I whisper, and run up to it when a figure comes out. I help the person; a boy with red hair and eyes. Like mine. I realize, and the boy glances at me. 

   "Where's Jeena..." he trails off. Glancing back at the ship, I see another figure. I lower the boy to the ground, and run back for the other figure; a girl with long pink hair--wait, is that natural?

   "Are you Jeena?" I ask, and she gives me a sharp look. I help her up, supporting her. "Redhead there asked where 'Jeena' was." I explain, and she nods. I reach the redhead, who is standing up already. 

   "Jeena, are you okay!?" he asks, and Jeena waves his question away. The boy looks at me, seemingly realizing that I was the one to rescue them. I look around for the bus, but it's gone, along with the class.

  "Dammit!" I mutter; they obviously left out of fear, forgetting me--which is not surprising, considering how quiet I am.

    "You saved us without knowing who we were." the boy mutters under his breath, and Jeena shoots him a look. He sticks his tongue out at her, and I roll my eyes. 

   "Real mature, redhead." I laugh, and he glances at me. Holding up a high tech badge thing, he laughs.

   "I'm Rallen of the Nanairo Planitary Patrol, ans this is my partner, Jeena." Jeena holds up a similar badge. I nod.

   "I'm Raven...of Earth." I say, and they glance between each other. Rallen turns to me.

   "Have you ever heard of Spectrobes?" he asks. I blink.

   "No, but it still sounds familiar." I tell them. Rallen nods, and Jeena uses a strange scanner thingie on her hand. 

    "Rallen, she's like you!" she exclaims, and I blink. Rallen does as well.

   "Uh...Jeena? Did you hit your head or something?" he asks, and Jeena punches him. 

   "I did, but that's not the point, Rallen! Give her his Prizmod--don't question it!" she snaps, the last part after Rallen opened his mouth to speak. He shuts it, and hands me a golden version of what is on his left arm from out of the thing itself. 

   "Here..." he says reluctantly, and I take the 'Prizmod'. I glance at him, and he sighs. "Strap it to your wrist--the left one." he says, correcting me at I start to put it on my right arm. I put it on my left wrist, and it starts to glow. A small red dog-like creature with curly ears appears before me.

   /I've been waiting to get out of this thing! Rallen couldn't bring himself to take me out after his teacher...what happened to his teacher, again?/ A voice sounds, and I blink. 

   "Wha...?" I shake my head in disbelief. 

   "It's a Komainu, a Child Form Spectrobe." Rallen explains, and I nod dumbly. "Go on, pet it's ears." he tells me. I reach out slowly, gingerly toughing the creature on the ears. It rubs it's ears against my hand, and then jumps on me. 

   /I like you./ it says. At least, I think that's who's talking. I look up at Rallen, who has a far away look on his face. 

   "Hey, Rallen? Are you...alright?" I ask carefully. He glances at me, and then to the ground.

   "I'm fine." he mutters, and stands up. Looking around, he seems lost. "We're not in Nanairo, anymore, that's for sure." I giggle. 

   "We're in the Solar system--our Sun's name is Sol." I explain. He looks up at the Sun.

   "How many Planets do you have?" he asks. I shrug.

   "It used to be nine." he gives me a look of alarm, and I chuckle. "The ninth Planet has been considered too small to be a real planet, but because it has moons, it is just a Dwarf Planet." I grin, happy to be able to give info on my favorite subject.

   "How many are habitable?" he asks, and I burst out laughing. 

   "One. Earth, this Planet." I say, chuckling at his look of alarm. "Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, the dwarf. Saturn is the prettiest to look at--the rings are amazing!" I exclaim.

   "Sound's kind of like Nessa in Nanairo." 

   "Venus is volcanic."

   "Genshi--does it have forests?" 

   "No, just lava." 

   "This one--Earth--looks like Kollin from space. Not counting the absence of colony rings." Rallen murmurs, and I realize that this 'Kollin' must be his home. 

   "How'd you end up here, anyway? Our system is pretty secludes from others--we've only been able to send probes, and even they haven't got much." I say, and Jeena glances at me. 

   "We got lost, thanks to a certain pilot doing stunts like going through an unregistered portal." she throws Rallen a pointed look. He gives her a look, raising his hands in surrender. 

   "Hey, you're the navigator! Warn me next time!" he exclaims.

   "I did, Rallen. You just weren't listening." Jeena sighs, and turns to me. "It's a nice surprise that there are no Krawl here, though." she says. I stand up.

   "Well, how am I supposed to get back to Regina?" I mutter, glancing around. Rallen and Jeena follow suit. 

   "If it's a ways away, then Pegatinum can help." Rallen says, and a beautiful, blue horse-like creature with wings pops out of his...Prizmod, was it? Rallen motions for me to pet it, and I tentatively reach my hand towards it. The creature nuzzles me, and I smile.

   "She's beautiful."

   /So are you, Little One./ the voice seems to come from the...Pegatinum? I look at Rallen, who pats Pegatinum's back. I get the hint, and climb on.

   Rallen and Jeena climb on as well. The creature starts running, and then takes to the sky. I mentally steer her towards Regina, but she doesn't go.

   /I sense Krawl, and you are not ready./ she whispers, and I glance back at Rallen.

   "The Krawl."
