Spectrobes: Earthborn (Female Hero, OC)

Chapter 2

Rallen's P.O.V.

   "The Krawl." Raven whispers, and I tense. 

   "Impossible." I mutter, glancing back at Jeena. She nods her confirmation, and I look at Raven. "Tell Pegatinum to head for the Krawl." I tell her, but she shakes her head.

   "She won't listen, and I keep hearing her say 'You're not ready, Little One.'" she says, and I glance at Pegatinum.

   "Go." I say softly, noticing the reluctance in her nod. She heads towards what seems to be a city in the distance, and Raven squirms.

   "I have a bad feeling about this, Rallen." she whispers. I look down at the city, and spot three black vortexes right away--with more following. 

   "Pegatinum, take us down and then return to the Prizmod." I command. She does as told, but with much reluctance. 

   On the ground, I call out my two Evolved Spectrobes: Spikanor and Zozanero.

   "Let's do this, iku ze!" I cry, diving into the first vortex I see. "Spikanor, lash it with your tail! Zozanero, defend!" I command, the Spectrobes taking out Krawl left and right. I pull out my plasma sword, slashing at the Krawl nearest to me. 

   "Rallen! Raven's been pulled into one of the vortexes!" I hear Jeena cry frantically. 

   "Walk her through it using the Prizmod's comm link!" I call, narrowly dodging a Krawl. The vortex I was in fades, and I dive into the next one. 

   "Rallen, help!" I hear Raven  scream, and I look over to see a Krawl about to slam it's 'arm' on her.

   "Zozanero, Defend her!" I command, and lunge at the nearest Krawl, sword slicing through it like butter. I run towards Raven, and, while my Spectrobes fight, show her the defensive position that calls out her Spectrobes. She nods, going into the position. Her Spectrobes, an Aobasar and Leozar, come out.

   "They respond to your voice, fight with them!" I call before diving into another Krawl. 

   "Uh...Attack!" she cries, and I hear the two creatures roar before slaming into Krawl. "Go!" she cries again, getting the hang of it. The Krawl are gone in a matter of...five minutes? 

   I grin at her when the threat is gone. "Well, that was your first official Krawl battle!" I punch the air, and she rolls her eyes. 

   "Yeah, and it was fun, too." she replies, although with less enthusiasm than I anticipated. I cross my arms.

   "Party pooper." I pout, earning a look from Jeena, who just caught up with us. 

   "Only you, Rallen. Only you." she smirks, punching me playfully in the arm.

   "Ok, what do we do now?" Raven asks, and I blink.

   "Damn, we don't have the Lab System or anything now." I mutter, and Jeena chuckles.

    "I stored the info on this." she smirks, holding up a memory disk.

    "Uh...I don't think those will work here." Raven says, and Jeena holds up her palm scanner. "Oh." is all Raven says. Her Komainu comes out of the Prizmod, and starts sniffing the ground.

   "Are there Fossils here?" I wonder aloud, and Raven glances at me.

   "If you mean Dinosaur fossils, then yes, but I don't think they're the fossils you're meaning, are they?" Raven asks. I shake my head, and Komainu starts going crazy. 

   "Uh...I think he's found one." I mutter, and glance at Raven. She seems to be acting out of instinct; opening the Prizmod, she brings up a virtual image of the fossil and begins to carve away at it.

   "That's good, Raven. You'll damage it if you go any more." Jeena says, and I glance at the fossil. 

   "A Ryzapod!" I exclaim, and Raven picks it up, putting it in the Prizmod.

   "Don't ask how I know how to do this, okay?" she mutters. I nod, but my curiosity is piqued.

Raven's P.O.V.

   /You did awsome! And it was your first excavation too!/ my little Komainu squeals, and I pet it's ears. 

   "You there! What are you doing here!?" A voice calls out. 

   "Shit! Police!" I mutter, and call Komainu back as well as put the fossil Rallen called 'Ryzapod' in the Prizmod. 

   "You're Raven? Your parents are looking for you." the police officer tells me, and I nod.

   "Sure, but these two are with me." I say, motioning to Rallen and Jeena. He nods, and escorts us to one of their cars. Once in the car, I sigh. 

   "Hey, Raven?" Rallen asks, and I glance at him. 

   "Yeah?" I reply, curious.

   "Something's on your mind. What is it?" he asks, and I sigh.

   "It's just...my parents aren't exactly understanding of me." I tell him as we pull up in front of my house. My mom meets us at the door.

   "Raven, you are in deep trouble, young miss!" she snaps, and I cast a glance at Rallen.

   "These guys helped me, Mom. It's fine." I tell her, and I swear her face turns as red as a tomato.

   "Fine!? No, you're grounded for a month! say bye to your friends, Raven. You won't be seeing them for awhile." she fumes, and I turn to Rallen. 

   "Uh...see you, Rallen..." I say, and turn to Jeena. "You too, Jeena." I add, and walk into my house. 

Rallen's P.O.V.

   "Hey, do you know what Krawl are?" I ask Raven's overbearing mother. She stiffens.

   "Yes...why?" she asks, and I sigh.

   "Because they're here, and you're daughter can fight them--so can I, so I can help her if she needs it...but..."

   "No. She will not be fighting those horrid creatures without Spectrobes!" she cries, and I glance at Jeena.

   "I, uh...sorta gave her Spectrobes..." I say, turning back to Raven's mom. She just stares at me, then turns to the house.

   "Raven! get down here!" she shouts, and Raven comes trudging down the stairs"

   "Yeah?" she asks, and her mom grabs her wrist. "Wha--hey!" Raven cries, startled. Komainu comes out, growling at her mother. "Settle, Komainu. That's my Mom." Raven coos, and the Komainu glances at her, then back to her mother. 

   "I don't believe it...you did inheret the skills." her mother whispers, and glances at me. "Her father was a Spectrobe Master..." she murmurs, and I glance at Raven. She smiles sheepishly.

   "Yeah, I just didn't know what those creatures in those pictures were..." she murmurs, and I glance at Jeena.

   "We'd like to teach her how to work together with them, Ma'am. If that's okay with you, of course." she chimes, and I grin.

   "Very well." Raven's Mom relents, and I grin.

   "Awsome!" I exclaim, and Jeena facepalms.

   "Hopeless--my partner is completely hopeless..." she mutters, and I shoot her a look.

   "Yeah, yeah, whatever. didn't you say something like that back in Kaio? We both defeated Krux, remember?" I retort. She sighs.

   "Yeah, but he's probably come back."
