Chapter 22

"Ready?" Adrien asked Marinette and she nodded enthusiastically. They walked to the front door from the Grand Hotel and a man stopped us.

"Welcome, may I ask you to explain me what pleasure the mayor will have to meet you?" The man asked and they almost didn't understand what he said. Adrien fixed his voice and looked at the man.
"We're here to see his daughter, Lila." Adrien explains and the man nodded while glaring at them.
"Are you a friend of Lila?" The man asked.
"Well, I'm one of Lila her childhood best friend, and this is my girlfriend." Marinette smiled at Adrien knowing that she probably will have to wait outside.

"She expected you." The man said and let us inside.
There was Lila standing on the red carpet. She was wearing a red dress from stoff. And white socks, she walked to us and smiled. Her hair was in a perfect messy dot and she looked absolutely stunning.
"I expected you. If you could follow me, I owe you an explanation. She bowed a little bit and then walked away, we followed her but something was weird. Is it me or was her language extra proper. Anyway, I shrugged it off and followed her with Adrien.

"You entered my room. I hope you like the room." she smiled at us but her smile looked a bit fake. More like an over smile. She looked also pale, while she actually has a caramel tone. Weird...

"We wanted to talk with you, I mean, I wanted to talk to you." Adrien began and looked at Lila. "I'm informed, you would appreciate it to borrow our ballroom, for a birthday party." She over smiled and looked at the ground.
"Uh... No actually I wanted to say sorry, for being a jerk and stuff. I honestly miss our friendship, Lila. And I'd love to have it back." Adrien said and looked at Lila, who was turning pink.

"Of course, I'd love to have it back, too. Adrien." Something wasn't right, she never talked this proper, and why did she bow for us?

"Er, Lila, you can talk normal around us, I mean, there's no need to force it." I smiled at her and she looked terrified at me. Uhhh...

"On my opinion am I talking right, Mari. EH I MEAN Marinette." She looked terrified after her but smiled back us.

"You can call me Mari if you want to. But how do you know about we wanting to borrow the ballroom?" I asked her and looked at her. "Yesterday, after our moment that was placed at the park, I bumped into Nino, your good friend. He kindly suggested to go for a quick coffee. I appreciate his offer so accepted it. Nino explained me he searched for a good ballroom. He knew that the mayor captures a ballroom." she smiled and I felt her pain in her place. Poor mouth and lips. She was smiling the whole time, as if she did it under pressure.

"Wow, Nino is a dude man. Cool of him to ask you already." Adrien smiled and Lila looked uncomfortable. "Lila, can I go to the bathroom, please?" I asked and she nodded. She stood up, bowed a little and then showed me the way. I took her hand and pulled her with me outside the hotel.

LILAS POV

"Now act normal. I know this isn't you." Marinette looked concerned at me and I pulled her in a hug. I felt tears rolling over my eyes. I can't hold it any longer, someone had to know.

"Look, inside the hotel are a bunch of cameras for safety, but my father also uses it to see or I behave right. That's why I over smile and extra proper talk in the hotel. If I don't act like the perfect girl, he slappes me. That's why I outside also talk proper, it's normal for me to talk like that. Anyway, let's go back inside. It's freezing here." I said and she nodded.
Marinette felt bad for Lila.
How can that man do that to his own daughter.

Adrien was walking around her room impressed looking. When the girls came back Adrien took a deep breath, he was going to ask Lila out.
He felt more nervous than he thougt.

"Lila. May I ask you something?" Adrien tried as charming as he could and she looked up and smiled.
"Do you wanna go on a date, with me. This saturday evening?" He hopes so she was gonna say yes.
She looked up at him with pink cheeks and smiled. A real smile.
"Of course! I really want to." She smiled innocent and giggled. But then she looked concerned at me and I almost saw a tear. 
"What about you, Marinette? Did you agree on this? I don't want to ruin it between you." She said unsure and walked backwards. "Wait, Lila. It was my idea, so yeah. It's a date because you two didn't see each other in like 8 years. Time to catch up that friendship." Marinette smiled at Lila and Lila jumped of joy.

"Thank you. Really." Lila smiled at the couple and they smiled back.

"Did I hear that right? Oh my ears." Suddenly a girl said. A blonde girl with high ponytail to be precise.
"Chlo, you here too?" Adrien waved at Chloe and Chloe jumped on his lap, she gave him three pecks on his cheek.
"Marinette, FYI, Adrikins is no toy. You can't just give him at someone else when you're tired of him." She smiled evil Marinette rolled her eyes.

"C-Chloe, what are you doing here?" Lila asked nervous hoping that she's not going to make a whole scene. "I'm here because I wanted to spend more time with you." She smirked and Adrien tried to pull her carefully off his lap.

"Oh that's n-nice of you, Chloe." Lila over smiled again and stood up, she bowed for her and Chloe stood up. "Lila, stay in that position." Chloe demanded while walking to her.
"First of all, those socks, what are they? Please." She looked with awful at her socks and walked around her. "What is this? You actually went to that weird secondhand shop." Chloe started to laugh hysterically and Lila felt powerless towards Chloe. Her father always liked Chloe, no matter what she did. And he was probably watching now, not caring about how Chloe treats her.

"Yes I did. What's wrong with that?" Lila asked Chloe a bit harsh. She tried to stay calm. "Girl, that's a shop for homeless people. Ew. Don't come near me." Chloe looked disgusted at Lila and walked to a seat.

Marinette and Adrien watched the whole time. Marinette wanted to stop Chloe but she didn't, she wanted Adrien to see her true colors. But he didn't said a word. He looked at Lila with a blank expression.

"Chloe, may I remind you that you aren't 12? But 18!" I said to her and she looked at me as if I was a death rat or something.
"Marinette, leave it. It's okay." Lila smiled at while walking to a chaise.
"No I'm not gonna leave it. Chloe you've no heart, doesn't it bother you when you hurt people?" I asked and she glared mad at me.

"What? Now you're quiet? Where is your big mouth? Cmon Chloe open it with, your huge personality." I scoffed and Chloe glared furious at me. I didn't care about that.

"Hello? Where's your attitude?"
"Don't think because you're Adriens girlfriend that you can talk to me like that." Chloe screamed at me and I startled a bit from her suddenly reaction.

"I'm leaving, this is stupid. Love you Adrikins." She blew him an airkiss and then left the room.

"Thanks, really." Lila smiled at me and I smiled back.
"I'm shocked..." Adrien looked pale at me and I shrugged and smiled sad at him.
