Chapter 14

Welcome back.

Marinette and Nathaniel were meeting the mayor and his daughter Lila. Lila and Marinette talked for a bit until Adrien walked towards them and approached Lila.
"Er... Hey there, beautif-... Er I mean Lila!" He screamed and blushed like hell.
"Hello." The girl smiled and looked at the blushing mess.
"Would you like something to drink? Ahah is actually kinda logic cuz it's a bar. Hahaha!" Adrien laughed at his own words and was begging from help from Nino. Who was unfortunately calling someone.
"Er... I'd like to wait a minute." Lila fake smiled and walked to her father.
"See you, Marinette." Lila smiled at her and walked away.
"Bye Mari, I'm going too." He waved at Marinette and walked away.
Nathaniel and Marinette were speechless, was he... "Are my eyes wrong, or is-..." Marinette interrupted him "Yeah, I saw it too, he's head over his heels in love with that girl. (idk)
"Sure she's pretty, but..." Marinette sighed and walked to her table.

"Wanna ditch this place? We can go to somewhere else." Nathaniel suggested but Mari shook her head and frowned. "I'm pretty tired, I'll go and ask the bill. I'm going to bed." She said and walked to Nino to ask the bill. "Hey Nino, can I have the bill please?" Nino looked unsure at me and nodded.

She payed and then Nathaniel ran over to them.
"Mari, you could at least let me pay." Nathaniel said and looked at her.
"Nathaniel." She frowned at him and he immediately stopped talking.
"I'm going home." She rubbed her both arms and frowned again. She felt so stupid, so stupid to believe this. She actually believed that Adrien liked her, but she can't blame him. He didn't expect this either.

"Dudette, you alright?" Marinette startled from his voice, she was deep in thoughts that she didn't notice Nino looking at her.
"Yeah, I'm fine." She nodded soft. It wasn't really convincing since Nino looked with unbelief at her.
"She's tired, Nino. I'll walk her to her room." Nathaniel said while pulling me into and hug. She's really happy with a friend like him, but now she just really wanted to be alone.
"Actually, I think that's my job..." Nino said, pulling Marinette out of Nathaniels arms and taking her hand.

"Okay, bring her home safely, please?" He asked and looked at the two with a small smile.
"Sure." Nino nodded and Marinette gave Nathaniel a kiss on his cheek, then she smiled at him.
Then they left the bar together.

"Nino?"
"Yes?"
"Why is love so complicated?"
Nino laughed in himself.
"Good question." He thought.
"Are you talking about Adrien?" he asked her and looked at her.
"Yes..." Marinette looked at the ground and began to blush.
"He's so confusing. He can be serious, caring, sweet and a huge flirt in one hour. He says this and he does that. He gives me wrong signs sometimes, although it feels like that." Marinette stopped walking and looked to the ground. Nino turned around and looked at the confused bluenette.
"Adrien is a special one, I know that. But you can't really blame him. He had a rough past." Nino sighed and walked to Marinette.
"I know..."
"He wants to do everything right. But because his father forbid him everything, he wasn't supposed to do anything." Marinette looked unsure at him.
"What do you mean?" Marinette asked unsure and looked him in the eyes.
He sighed "The thing is, because Gabriel became a bad father doesn't mean his son will be bad too. Just Adrien thinks he will become as cold and bad as his father."

"Everything he couldn't experience then, he does now. And you're someone he wants to experience, Mari. I mean, his feelings for you. That's why he's maybe sometimes a little... Forward haha." Marinette chuckled because she understood what he meant.
"What I'm trying to say is, don't be harsh on him, even when he deserves it. I know you're annoyed that Adrien felt attracted to that girl, but that's over in 3 days. I'm sure!" He smiled and gave Marinette a big hug.

"How can you be so sure?"
"Because I saw it in his eyes. When he met you the only thing he talked about was you. And he looked so happy, his eyes twinkled and never happened that before. When he looked at Lila, yes he was speechless, but his eyes didn't twinkle." He chuckled.
"Oh." Was the only thing Marinette could say.

"Thank you, Nino. You're a good friend." She smiled and they walked to their rooms.

4 minutes later...

"Can I check on Alya?" Nino asked before entering his room.
Marinette nodded and they walked together in her room.
"Hey, Alya." Nino greet her with a hug. "Hey Nino. How was the night as waiter experience?" She chuckled and hugged him back.

Marinette walking in her bathroom without saying anything. She undressed her and putted on her pyjamas. She undid her hair and left it on her shoulders, brushed her teeth and brushed her hair. Then she walked out of the bathroom seeing that Nino already left. Alya was laying on her bed reading a book.

"Girl, Nino told me everything. Come here." Alya patted on a empty place next to her for Marinette to sit. She walked to Alyas bed and felt tears rolling over her cheeks, Alya hugged her tightly.
"Oh Mari, it's fine, I'm sure there is an explanation for this." She patted Maris back while trying to calm her down.
"There is no explanation, he's attracted to someone else, there's nothing to do about it." She sobbed in her shoulder. She was mad, sad and disappointed at the same time. Mad because she really thought that he liked her. Sad because now she probably has no chance with him, anymore, and disappointed because she hoped that ever something romantic could happen between them.

And with that she felt asleep with Alya her comfort. 💜
