“So….”
“So.”
Ryan stands in front of his house, looking up at Luke in the darkness. It's currently 10:42 pm, almost two hours later than Ryan ever planned on staying out, and they're currently standing in the cold like a couple of idiots. He shifts his weight onto the other leg, one of his hands coming out of his pocket to brush hair out of his face.
“Do you want me to walk you inside?” Luke seems a bit hesitant, rubbing his hands together out of either nervousness or the need for warmth. Ryan can't tell which. He smiles regardless, nodding his head.
It's quite relaxing, the way Luke wraps his arms around Ryan. He's not amazingly muscular, but he's getting there and Ryan feels pretty damn good wrapped up in such strong arms. They have to move slowly, walking in such an odd position, but the door is nudged open and Ryan's soon sitting on his couch. Luke sits next to him, still holding him close.
Ryan smiles politely. “Thank you, Lukey.”
“Does this, uh, mean that I get some fancy goodnight kiss for walking you in and keeping you warm?” Luke gives a suggestive grin, wiggling his eyebrows.
He giggles at the sight. Ryan shakes his head, leaning over and kissing Luke regardless. “If I have to, then I guess I can.”
They both laugh, though Ryan has no idea what Luke is laughing at. He decides to ask the next time they meet up, because by the time he stops giggling, Luke's already saying his goodbyes and halfway out the door.
Now, Ryan isn't one to be cheesy or sappy, or anything of that sort. That's just not his thing, you know?
But god, was their date perfect. Even though it started off a little weird (what was that lady's deal, anyways? Why is bruschetta so expensive?), it went almost unrealistically great.
After eating, Luke had asked Ryan where he wanted to go. They had decided to go to drive down to the mall, but ended up having some very intense karaoke in the car together (and honestly, Luke is actually a lot better at singing than he looks). Somewhere in the midst of seducing each other with Britney Spears, they had taken a wrong turn and somehow ended up at an indoor mini golf place.
Mini golf took them a whole lot longer than expected. They also got kicked out of the place (for dancing on a counter and accidentally breaking part of the course), which was actually really fun.
And now, Ryan is laying in bed, still fully dressed, and practically drowning in his own mushy feelings. Man, life is great.
He can't wait to see Luke again.
--
The snow is falling all around them as they walk calmly down the street. Ryan is bundled up nicely in his bunny hoodie, a long sleeve shirt underneath and a scarf on top. Bryce and Gorilla, a pretty cool guy Luke introduced him to, are walking ahead of them. Luke is behind Ryan, and Ryan is positive he can hear Luke muttering to himself.
The date is December 9th, and Ryan is waiting for his boyfriend to hurry up.
Or… are they boyfriends? Ryan has no idea. Does going out on (exactly) one and a half dates qualify a ridiculously attractive man as your boyfriend? He hopes so.
(The half date part comes from a few days ago. They had accidentally ran into each other at a grocery store, and ended up at Luke's house, snuggled up watching movies together. They agreed they had a great time together, and also agreed that they have no idea what to call themselves.)
